President Chen Xiaohong Led a Team to Inspect Campus Environmental Renovation and Infrastructure Construction

On the morning of June 21st, President Chen Xiaohong, vice president Peng Jinqing, Wang Minggao led a team to inspect the campus environmental renovation and infrastructure construction under scorching sun. Persons in charge from Party and Government Administration Office, Propaganda Department, Financial Division, Logistics Department, Infrastructure Department, Assets Division, Library, Big Data and Internet Innovation Institute were along with the team and provided relevant reports. President Chen Xiaohong said the campus environmental renovation and infrastructure construction projects which presented an overall image of the school were closely related to the interests of teachers and students, and should be under strict control in order to create high-quality works, and provide solid foundation for the school "Three Promotions" project.

School leaders and the team checked construction and renovation projects of Front Square of Confucius Statue, Sunny Service Center, the Cultural Wall, the First Dining Room, the First Office Building, Heyuan Residential Area, Kindergarten, the Third Canteen, the newly built Cuiya Students Apartments, Library, Big Data Lab, Lingnan Campus etc.

The cement hardening of the road as well lighting in the front square of Confucius Statue has been completed, with American maples currently being transplanted to add an exotic landscape when fall comes. While the Culture Wall construction has entered the final mop-up stage, President Chen pointed out that it should highlight the cultural characteristics of Hunan commerce, the color should be in harmony with the surrounding buildings, and electronic display may be supplied in order to deliver a timely release of important school information.

As for the Sunny Education Service Center, President Chen required it to provide conditions to facilitate students’ access to their academic achievements, curriculum, and provide more small printed manuals to increase services as well as to improve service levels.

After a review of the present situation and listening to a renovation plan for the First Dining Room and the First Office Building, President Chen stressed that a reasonable plan should be made for the dining area and office area, a modern design concept could be adopted and the use of space should be maximized. Designs for dining area can be borrowed from foreign universities which draw catering, communication and other functions into one.

After renovation and transformation, Heyuan Residential Area for school faculties presents a new look with which school leaders expressed their satisfaction and require good cleaning and maintenance to create a picturesque living environment with a pool in the middle and lotus surrounding. They also hoped that faculties could cater for the general requirements of the school environmental renovation by clearing their corridor as well as their outdoor items for a better living environment.

The inspection team also checks every single detail of renovation and construction in Kindergarten, the Third Canteen, the newly built Cuiya Students Apartments, Library, Big Data Lab, Lingnan Campus etc.

In the nearly three hours of fieldwork research, school leaders affirmed Logistics Department, Infrastructure Department as well as other relevant departments for their numerous planning and practical work and their obvious achievements in renovating the campus environment and infrastructure. They also hoped these departments would continue their efforts to proceed their work so that a grand-new campus look would show at the beginning of new semester. President Chen pointed out that "Three Promotions" goal needs collaborative work among teaching, research, management services and logistics supports. In the infrastructure planning and construction projects, we should not only do a good job of environmental protection, adjust the layout of the campus, optimize design,  transform for higher quality, but also to enhance the educational attainments of teachers and students.
