President Chen Xiaohong and the Delegation Visited Five Foreign Universities, Promoting the School’s International Exchanges and Cooperation to a New Stage

From June 5th to 12th, President Chen Xiaohong led a delegation formed of persons in charge from Research Administration Division, Party and Government Administration Office, International Exchanges and Cooperation Division as well as International Institute of Education to visit University of West London, York St John University, University of Sunderland, University of Dublin in Ireland and Griffith University. During the visit, they signed one contract for a cooperative program for undergraduate accounting majors, four intercollegiate strategic cooperation agreements, and carried out an in-depth investigation of discipline construction, innovative personnel training, student management and campus environment construction in foreign universities. The delegation also met student representatives from our university who study overseas. After sharing their experiences studying abroad, the delegation encouraged them to study hard for higher goals.

On the morning of June 11, Mr. Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese ambassador in Ireland, accompanied by Wu Xiaochuang, head of Education Sector, managed a reception out of a busy schedule for President Chen Xiaohong and her party. Ambassador Yue fully affirmed and actively supported our school’s international cooperation and exchange with Irish Universities. With President Chen, he discussed about why Ireland succeeded in leading the country out of economic slump and shared their ideas in how Hunan should promote its development.

President Chen and his party visited five foreign universities during their well-arranged, compact, orderly 6-day overseas stay,  successfully completing six essential tasks and made very fruitful achievements: 1. cooperative education contract signed with University of West London lays a solid foundation for  our school’s application to Ministry of Education in September for  Joint Education of Accounting Undergraduate Project; 2. the consolidation of the already-existing cooperation with two foreign universities together with the newly-established cooperation with three other foreign  universities including University of Dublin which ranks 249 in the world provides a better international exchange and cooperation platform for our teachers and students; 3. the newly-developed undergraduate “2 + 2”, “3 + 1” training mode, master “3 + 1 + 1”, “4 + 1” training mode, and PhD “2 + 2” training model broaden the channels for our school’s innovative personnel training as well as training high-level personnel through international cooperation; 4. joint research projects, mutual teacher  exchange programs,  personnel training and cooperation mechanisms with overseas colleges and universities create  new paths and  areas for our school educational course to reach an international level; 5. good overseas College student services and campus environment provides an international perspective for our school’s reform and development. These achievements will greatly promote our international exchanges and cooperation to a new level, greatly promote the international influence and competitiveness of our school.
