School’s First Meeting of the Fifth Term Faculty and Trade Union Congress Held in Hunan University of Commerce

From March 31st to April 5th, the School’s First Meeting of the Fifth Term Faculty and Trade Union Congress was held in the Multifunctional Lecture Hall of school library. All school leaders attended this meeting; president Chen Xiaohong made her administration work report in the meeting; and our new Party secretary Tang Yayang was present in the closing ceremony.
On the afternoon of March 31st, the preliminary meeting of the meeting was held. Vice Party secretary Xia Jichun gave his work report on preparation for this meeting, and the preliminary meeting worked out the meeting agenda and the suggested name lists of meeting chairmen, secretaries and heads of delegations.
On the morning of April 1st, all attendees singing the National Anthem commenced the meeting, and vice president PengJinqing presided over the opening ceremony.
Mr. Wang Changhua, the vice chairman of Hunan Provincial Education Union, addressed in the meeting and congratulated the meeting convening on behalf of the Education Union. By integrating the relevant guidelines from central and provincial Party Committee for mass work, Mr. Wang gave his instructive advices for the meeting and expressed his hope that all attendees should participate the agenda as the hosts so as to exercise their own rights and contribute to school’s development with their wisdom and capability.

President Chen Xiaohong made her administration work report named “Adhering to Objectives and Deepening Reform for a New Situation in the 13th Five-year Plan Period with Joint Efforts”. The report reviewed school’s development during the 12th Five-year Plan Period. First, the school has made a clearer objective for development; second, the school has brought itself up into a higher level in school running; third, teaching work has gained great progress; fourth, capability disciplinary scientific research has been enhance by a large margin; fifth, talent team’s capacity has been improved significantly; sixth, students’ all-round qualities have been boosted gradually; seventh, school’s management level has been raised; eighth, international cooperation and exchanges have been further developed; ninth, teaching conditions have been improved substantially; tenth, school culture has been further activated; eleventh, a harmonious campus has been established steadily; and twelfth, school’s reputation has been increasing.
In the work report, president Chen Xiaohonganalyzedthe shortcomings in the current schoolwork andexpounded the main objectives and major tasks during the 13th Five-Year Plan period with the clearance of the six major development tasks for the school during this period. First, the school reform needs to be deepened in an all-rounded manner in order to further improve school management. Second, quality of talent cultivation needs to be further enhanced with the aim of fostering qualified, application-and innovation-oriented talents. Third, we need to boost our disciplinary competitiveness, striving to build the first-class discipline in Hunan province. Fourth, we need to continuously strengthen the scientific research capability, endeavoring to achieve leading scientific fruits in industries. Fifth, we need to open ourselves wider to the outside society by actively enlarging our sphere of influence in internationalizing education. Sixth, more funds need to be input in school building and staff and students welfares so as to make teachers and students in the school happier. What’s more, in the work report, president Chen made an arrangement for the 14 major projects in 2016.
Vice Party secretary Xia Jichun gave his schoolwork report relating to the Union and gave an explanatory words for the revised implementation measures of school’s mutual medical aid funds. Vice president Li Dingjunmade an account of the draft compilation of schoolwork in the 13th Five-Year Plan period. Vice president Wang Minggao made his report on school finance.
On the afternoon of April 1st, the meeting was progressed in separate groups, with ten delegations discussing and deliberating on schoolwork, ranging from the administration work report, draft plan during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, financial report, trade union work report, financial report and expenditure check report to the draft revised implementation measures of mutual medical aid funds for major diseases and wounds.
On the morning of April 5th, the first meeting of the school bureau was held in Room 401 of the second Office Building, with the heads of the ten delegations making report of the discussion and deliberation situation respectively. Then, theDraft Resolution of School Administration Work, theDraft Resolution of School Plan in the 13th Five-Year Plan period, theDraft Resolution of School Financial Work Report, theDraft Resolution of Trade Union Work Report And Expenditure Check Report, and the Draft Resolution of the Implementation Measures of Mutual Medical Aid Funds for Major Diseases And Wounds were examined deliberately by the bureau.
On the afternoon of April 5th, the closing ceremony, presided over by president Chen Xiaohong was held in the Multifunctional Lecture Hall of school library.
In the closing ceremony, delegates in presence voted for and approved the Resolutions that had been discussed during the bureau meeting.
Through the voting, 17 were elected as the Trade Union members of the 5th Union Committee, 5 as the members of the 5th Union Expenditure Check Committee, and 5 as the members of the 5thUnion Female Employee Committeeduring the closing ceremony.
President Chen Xiaohong addressed in the closing ceremony. She pointed out that all delegates bear responsibilities entrusted by all school faculties, and should perform duties earnestly and use democratic rights properly. During the meeting, core issues have been discussed heatedly, and suggestions for revision and improvement regarding reports and materials put forward to the meeting have been made, all which demonstrated school faculties’ strong sense of ownership for school’s reform and development, their sincere expectations for the building of a higher-level finance and economic university, as well as their urge and firm belief for the deeper school reform and faster development. The school will make earnest study on the suggestions and advices so that we can take effective measures to improve schoolwork and strive for a fast and sound development.
President Chen Xiaohong demanded the newly elected committees should carry out duties earnestly, strengthen themselves by continuous acquiring knowledge and improving their own qualities and working abilities, create good atmosphere of everyone devoting themselves to the schoolwork wholeheartedly with the focus on the “Three Upgradings” objective, pursue development by pooling wisdom and making joint efforts, take every means to serve faculty and students in practical matters as well as stick to institutional and work innovation in the Trade Union, endeavoring to make new contributions for the school’s reform and development.
President Chen Xiaohong also emphasized that it is the common aspiration of teachers and students of the school that we can bring the school into one with our own characteristics of higher standards. The year 2016 is the first of the 13th Five-year Plan period and a year of tackling difficult problems that occur in deepening comprehensive reform. The school is in the strategic period of opportunity for reform and development, so it is hoped that all delegates can strengthen confidence, grasp development law, tap potential for development and carry forward school running tradition and culture, in order to continuously enhance the school’s core competitiveness, achieve common understanding, pool everyone’s wisdom and reach goals and accomplish tasks in the 13th Five-year Plan period. Also, delegates in presence were expected to be the echo of meeting spirit, to collect greater efforts for the school’s reform and development, to overcome difficulties with one heart and one mind and to make endeavors to building our school into a higher-level finance and economic university with distinct characteristics.
