One Hundred Percent Excellence for Provincial Key Disciplines Inspection on “12th Five-Year”

Recently, the Provicial Education Department released the Notice : Provincial Key Disciplines Inspection Results on “12th Five-Year Plan”, five key disciplines of our university had passed the inspection, among which “Political Economics”, “Regional Economics”, “Enterprise Management”, and “Administrative Management” were appraised excellent, meanwhile, “Management Science and Engineering” gained “Fine”. During the period of “12th Five-Year”, our key disciplines inspection obtained 100 percent excellence & fine rate, ranks the first among the universities in Hunan Province.
During the period of “12th Five-Year”, our school adhered to the theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics to guide the work of the discipline construction. Oriented with economic and social development needs and discipline development trend, we set the goal of building a higher level of financial and economic universities in the country. According to the principles of “highlight the key points, taking into account the general, to play the advantages and to create our own characteristics” our school put the discipline construction of the economics and management as the focus, subject concise construction as the foundation, discipline team construction as the core, and discipline research base construction as guarantee to constantly improve our discipline construction level.
Our school’s five key disciplines were selected in 2011, the inspection lasted from January 1, 2011 to October 15, 2015. According to the arrangement of the Department of Education, our school seriously organized self-assessment, materials review and self-evaluation work of the five key construction disciplines, and passed the inspection procedures organized by the Department of Education such as the form of review, publicity materials, online assessment, meeting checking and conclusion publicity, etc.
Our school successfully completed the “12th Five Year” provincial key discipline inspection and the "excellent & good" conclusion reached 100%, marking the subject construction of our university has stepped on a new level, which laid a solid foundation for our school to realize our “three liters” strategic objectives.
Appendix: A brief introduction to the excellent key disciplines
A brief introduction on Political Economics
The discipline closely linked to the academic frontier for Hunan economic development practice, formed four relatively stable and distinctive research directions: “Chinese economic reform theory and practice”, “coordinated development of urban and rural economy research”, “ theory and policy research on sustainable development”, and “opening economy theory and practice”. And had its own research characteristics on the study of income distribution and consumption economic research, promoting the mode transformation of economic development by science and technology, economic sustainable development and coordinated development of regional economy, environmental protection and resource utilization, utilization of FDI quality, FDI technology spillover impacts on the economic growth mode, etc. During the period of “12th Five-Year”, the discipline obtained 19 national programs, among which two of them are key projects of National Social Science Fund, published more than 110 academic papers in the Economic Research and other CSSCI (CSCD) source journals and 16 academic monographs. The discipline won a second prize in the eleventh Philosophy and Social Science Award of Hunan Province, a third prize of the eleventh National Statistical Research, undertook 12 enterprises horizontal projects. Many studies has been instructed by the provincial party committee secretary of the Hunan province and other important provincial leaders, a number of research reports have been adopted by the Provincial Development & Reform Commission, the Provincial Poverty Alleviation Office and other government departments.
A brief introduction on Regional Economics
This discipline actively organized and built good discipline management mechanism, strengthened academic exchanges both at home and abroad, completed the construction tasks and formed a high level scientific research team led by Professor He Tianxiang and composed of 21 outstanding young backbones. It had three distinct research directions, obtained a series of high level achievements of scientific research, formed its own characteristics, and had certain influence in the world. The discipline published nearly 30 papers on authoritative journals such as Economic Research, Chinese Social Science, Guangming Daily, Economic Modelling, etc and was fully reprinted or retrieved by Xinhua Digest, SSCI, EI, etc. The discipline presided over 18 national projects, 7 projects of the Ministry of Education and published 14 monographs. It won the first prize of the Social Sciences Excellent Achievements award of Hunan Province and the first prize of the Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. Relying on “Hunan Province Research Base of Regional Strategy & Planning”, "Hunan Province Regional Financial Innovation Research Base" and the provincial excellent off campus practice base, the discipline cultivated more than 800 outstanding undergraduates and more than 10 graduate students. The subject actively serves the local economy, undertakes a number of provincial and municipal government planning projects, and has been adopted by the government of Hunan province.
A brief introduction on Enterprise Management
Guided by the Scientific Outlook on Development, this discipline focused on compacting discipline direction, strived to form a scientific research characteristics, supported the discipline construction on master application, highlighted scientific and technological innovation, promoted the team construction, strengthened personnel cultivation, and comprehensively completed the task of subject construction. Since the “12th Five-Year”, key disciplines construction group members won 8 national projects (including two national social science key project ), 40 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, 14 other horizontal projects. It won two second prizes and two third prizes scientific research awards at province& ministerial level, published16 monographs, 109 papers, among which 90 articles were published in domestic core journals, 8 papers in international academic journals, 6 papers in the EI source, 79 papers in CSSCI . One people was selected as the perspective talents for youth social science research of the forth“0ne Hundred Talents Projects” for Hunan Province, 3 people were selected as the backbone perspective young teachers in Hunan Province, 1 people gained the title of Young Teaching Experts in Hunan Province. Besides, insight strategies and opinions proposed by our discipline members in overall urban and rural development, new urbanization, perfecting rural market system, the construction of Changsha, Zhuzhou and Xiangtan city group, the development of commerce, the implementation of going-out strategy were adopted and praised by leaders of all levels.
A Brief Introduction on Administrative Management
The discipline aimed at carrying out team collaborative research on Chinese contemporary public administration of fundamental theoretical issues and major problems in practice, formed influential research directions at the construction of law system against corruption, public policy and local governance, which had great impact both at home and abroad. “2011 Collaborative Innovation Center of the Construction of a Clean & Honest Government” had been approved as the second “2011 Collaborative Innovation Center” of Hunan Province. The discipline has distinctive research direction. Moreover, the discipline focused on systematical comprehensive research on politics, economics, management science, sociology, law and other multidisciplinary cross base with a strong radiation and integration results, its interdisciplinary research featured distinctive characteristics. Besides, this discipline not only attached importance on the frontier research, but also on the service of the decision-making of the CPC and government as well as the country's reform and development.Especially the research team who focused on buildinglaws system for the honest governance, actively participated in national policy advisory and the state and local government's anti-corruption construction, submitted the Corruption Prevention & Control Law of PRC(draft), Suggestions on Speeding Up the Legislation of Commercial Bribery, Commercial Bribery Prevention & Control Law of PRC (Expert proposal draft) to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Central Discipline Inspection Commission and other units. All of these has been widely praised, the discipline’s theoretical research and application research make progress together with its distinctive practical characteristics.

During the period of “12th Five Year” , the discipline gained a fruitful research results. It had one British government global prosperity strategy fund project, one national soft science project, 9 National Social Science Fund projects, 22 provincial and ministerial level projects, published 11 monographs,including Scientific Anti-corruption System Theory, The Model & Mechanism Study on Preventing and Punishing Absconding Corrupt Officials, etc. And one translation works, 159 papers, 18 papers were published on China Daily (theoretical edition). Guangming Daily (theoretical edition), China's Administrative Management and other authoritative publications. The discipline obtained one second prize on the sixth Scientific Research Institutions of Higher Learning, one third prize on the seventh Scientific Research Institutions of Higher Learning, one first prize and one third prize of the eleventh Social Science Achievement, and one first, one second and one third prize of the twelfth Social Science Achievement. Moreover, with our guidance, our students won a first prize and a second prize of “Challenge Cup” National College Students Extracurricular Science and Technology Works Competition, two second prizes, two third prizes at the “Challenge Cup” Hunan Province College Student Extracurricular Academic Science & Technology works competition.
