Professor Wang Minggao Made Theme Speech in the Hunan ProvincialHonoring Ceremony for Social Science Award

On March 11th, the Hunan Provincial Honoring Ceremony for Social Science Award &the Working Conference of Hunan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences was held in Changsha. Mr. Zhang Wenxiong (the standing member of Provincial Party Committee, the director of Provincial Publicity Department and the chairman of Hunan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences) sent words to the social science workers, hoping that they can be passionate for scientific research and be committed to learning so as to obtain more good fruits. Mr. Li Youzhi (the deputy director of Hunan Provincial People’s Congress and the vice governor of Hunan Province) read out the “Bulletin from CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and Provincial Government on Honoring the 12th Session of Outstanding Social Scientific Achievements, the 5th Session of Outstanding Social Scientists and the 3rd Session of Outstanding Youth Social Scientists”. Mr. Ouyang Bin (the vice chairman of Hunan Provincial Political Consultative Conference) attended the conference, with Mr. Song Zhifu (the Party Secretary and vice chairman of Hunan Provincial Federation of Social Sciences) presiding over the conference.
The Conference honored totals of 99outstanding social scientific achievements, 4 outstanding social scientists and 5 outstanding youth social scientists. Mr. Zhang Wenxiong pointed out that talented people constitute the strategic resources and core competitiveness of the philosophical and social sciences, and great importance should be attached to talents and to creating a sound atmosphere that respects talents. The new concepts, thoughts and strategies of CPC in governing the country have been fully initiated, providing precious opportunity for social science theory circle to produce theoretical results. It is hoped that all social science workers can cherish the opportunity and keep pace with the times to gain more achievements, and that they can take the practical issues in reform and opening-up and modernization drive as the coreand proceed from the real situation of Hunan province, in order to make thorough researches on the major practical issues concerning the reform and development of Hunan province.
As the representative award-winner of the 12th Session of Outstanding Social Scientific Achievements, Professor Wang Minggao made a speech themed by “Gaining Happiness from Scientific Research” in the conference. He said, the reason why he devoted himself to the systematic research on anti-corruption for the last two decades is that he thinks it is happy to do researches, and this happiness comes from three aspects: one, the research findings will constitute practical driven force for the progresses of the country and the Party; two, the research findings will facilitate the school development in practical matters; three, the research findings will realize the real life value. Professor Wang expressed that he will joint his efforts with his colleagues in the research team to produce more and better results, to help Hunan University of Commerce fulfill its objective of “three upgradings”, and to make their contributions to Hunan province, China and the CPC for their future development.
During this Awards, “Research on Modes and Mechanism of the Chinese anti-corruption and Punishment &Treatment on Fled Corrupted Officials” written by Professor Wang Minggao won the first prize of Transfer of Applicative Achievement of Research Finding, fulfilling the zero breakthrough for our school in this award, winning the grand slam for our school regard both the transfer of theoretical and applicative achievements and proving that teachers from HUC are strongly capable both of transferring theoretical and applicative researches. Professor Wang addressed on behalf of the award-winners of the 12th Session of Outstanding Social Scientific Achievements, which fully demonstrated social science circle in Hunan recognizes the scientific efforts our school has made. Mr. Zhang Wenxiong, in his speech, particularly mentioned the working concepts, methods and approaches of Professor Wang, hoping that the social science workers can learn and draw experience from Professor Wang and his team.
In the past few years, the anti-corruption building team led by Professor Wang Minggao of HUC, based on Hunan Provincial Anti-corruption Center of Collaborative Innovation and Hunan Anti-corruption Research Base, has been kept closely in line with major strategic demands of the Party and government. Oriented to solving practical problems, the team sets its goal of cultivating innovative talents, grips on joint research projects and guarantees itself by creative mechanism and institutions. Besides, the team has conducted multi-modal and multi-level scientific researches, talent cultivation and decision-making advisory services in the anti-corruption field. Members from this team have taken charge of the major bidding project of the British government, the major entrusted project of the National Soft Science Research Program, the National Social Science Foundation project and other high-level research projects. They have also published and issued a group of influential specialized works and academic papers of researching anti-corruption building, winning the awards for outstanding social scientific achievements for more than 10 times. What is worth mentioning is that some of those achievements were highly spoken by superior organizations, and were cited by the national decisions of anti-corruption building.
