As time changes and a new chapter unfolds, as time changes and a new chapter unfolds, on this beautiful occasion of bidding farewell to the old and welcoming the new, we, on behalf of HUTB, extend our most sincere New Year wishes to all faculty, staff, students, retired comrades, alumni at home and abroad, as well as leaders at all levels and friends from all walks of life who have long cared for and supported the university's development!

In the past year, Chinese-style modernization has presented a magnificent scene. HUTB has always kept in mind its original mission of "cultivating talents for the Party and the country", fully implemented the spirit of the Third and Fourth Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, synchronized its development with the motherland and the times, anchored the goal of building a "Double First-Class" university, strengthened its characteristics, strived for excellence, and made great strides forward.

This year, we have forged ahead steadily and resolutely. The study and education on the spirit of the central eight-point rules have been pushed forward in depth, and we have taken an active attitude in accepting the inspection by the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the undergraduate education and teaching audit and evaluation. For four consecutive years, the university has been rated "Good" in the report, evaluation and assessment of grass-roots CPC building work by CPC committee secretaries of universities in the province, and has successfully been selected as a "Model University" for Party building work among universities in the province. The bright red Party flag has always been flying high at the forefront of moral education and talent cultivation!

This year, we have forged ahead with greater consciousness and confidence. The path of high-quality development of the university has been increasingly broadened. We have successfully obtained the qualification for exemption from examinations for postgraduate studies, and been approved to establish the Social Science Laboratory under the Ministry of Education Inspectors. Six disciplines of the university have been ranked among the "Best Disciplines in China" by ShanghaiRanking. The number of national-level scientific research projects has maintained steady growth, more than 20 policy consultation reports have been adopted by ministerial and provincial authorities, and the number of authorized invention patents has hit a new record high.

This year, we have forged ahead brilliantly and splendidly. The effectiveness of talent cultivation has become increasingly prominent. We have added 8 more national first-class undergraduate courses, and new programs such as Energy Storage Science and Engineering have been established to meet the emerging needs. Some teachers won the second prize in the National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers, and some students claimed the national special prize in competitions such as the "Challenge Cup". The employment rate of graduates and the minimum score for undergraduate admissions have remained among the top ranks of provincial universities.

This year, we have forged ahead in a steady and solid manner. The teaching staff has maintained steady growth with continuous improvements; 76 full-time doctors have been recruited, and a number of high-level talents have won honors and come to the fore. The "Alumni Returning to Hunan" initiative has continued to take the lead in the province, ranking 4th in the comprehensive assessment among provincial universities. The university's running conditions have improved with each passing day: the smart security platform has been put into operation, the Phase II construction of Moon Island Campus has been fully launched, and buildings including Fenghua Building, Scientists' Innovation & Sharing Center and Faculty & Staff Home have been completed and put into use, making our campus a more beautiful home.

Looking back on 2025, every major stride forward could not have been achieved without the support and endorsement of leaders at all levels and friends from all sectors of society; every outstanding achievement is the crystallization of the wisdom and sweat of all faculty, students and alumni of HUTB. We will always keep this in mind and never forget it.

Building a university satisfactory to the people is our unwavering goal. Looking ahead to 2026, we will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, accurately position ourselves and take proactive actions in the magnificent overall development landscape. Taking the compilation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for the university's development as an opportunity and the pilot reform of the integration of education, science and technology, and talent as the starting point, we will better integrate the university's development into the magnificent practice of serving national strategies and Hunan's "Three Highlands, Four New Missions" grand blueprint. We will forge ahead steadily on the path of building a highland for talent cultivation, striving to become a first-class prestigious university, and co-constructing a happy home, contributing HUTB's strength to boosting the construction of an educational powerhouse and realizing Chinese-style modernization!
