HUTB's Joint Undergraduate Education Program with the University of West London (UK) Officially Approved by the Ministry of Education
2026-01-05
Recently, the Ministry of Education's Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools Supervision and Information Platform shows that the joint undergraduate education program in Information Management and Information Systems, co-hosted by HUTB and the University of West London (UK), has been officially approved. The program will start enrolling students in 2026, with an intake of 120 students per cohort and a maximum enrollment capacity of 480 students. HUTB will award the undergraduate diploma and bachelor's degree certificate, while the UK partner university will grant the Bachelor of Information and Technology (Honours).
After more than two years of meticulous preparation and development, the program has continuously deepened exchanges and cooperation with respect to curriculum alignment and mutual recognition, integration of training systems, faculty exchange and consultation, as well as training procedures and quality assurance between the Chinese and British universities. It has ultimately achieved mutual recognition, embodying the educational vision and collaborative wisdom of the program developers from both sides, and more importantly, demonstrating the confidence and resolve of China's education sector in advancing opening-up. In the specific implementation of the program, HUTB will introduce 18 high-quality courses in Information Technology from the University of West London (UK). The number of courses, class hours, and faculty members provided by the UK partner will each account for more than one-third of the total in the program's curriculum. The talent cultivation orientation of the program is closely aligned with the needs of the times. The curriculum design fully integrates the high-quality educational resources in disciplines and specialties from both Chinese and British universities, featuring clear training objectives, well-defined pathways and scientific planning. It will accurately meet the talent gap brought by industrial upgrading in our province and serve the high-quality development of local economy and society. Targeting the frontiers of information technology and real-world social demands, the program is highly compatible with HUTB's development strategy of integrating modern information technology with traditional disciplines, and its priority focus on developing a number of cutting-edge, emerging and interdisciplinary programs that serve national strategic needs, such as big data management and application.
