[Integrated Development of Culture and Technology] HUTB Hosts Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alumni Forum

On the afternoon of June 1, HUTB hosted the “Toward 2035 - Integration and Innovation for the Future” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Alumni Forum in the Yingcai Lecture Hall of the library. Gan Dejian, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, was present at the ceremony and delivered a speech. Also in attendance were experts, professors, entrepreneurs and student representatives.

Vice President Gan Dejian underscored the university's strong commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in recent years, as evidenced by the remarkable achievements in related competitions. He also highlighted the university's proactive integration of resources from diverse sectors to optimize the cooperative education framework, which integrates scientific research and education and aligns classroom learning with real-world needs. He hoped to leverage this forum as a platform to facilitate the communication between alumni entrepreneurs and faculty, as well as students. This would enable our alumni to play a pivotal role in the university’s efforts to develop talent and advance innovation and entrepreneurship. He urged students to develop a keen sense of innovation and entrepreneurship, enhance their creativity and business acumen, learn from the alumni about entrepreneurship, and appreciate the value of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Hu Yong, alumnus and Chairman of the Board of Zhongke Shibo Technology Co., Ltd., shared his insights on “innovation and entrepreneurship in the context of cultural and technological integration” by reflecting on his career trajectory, analyzing case studies on the fusion between technology and culture, and discussing the ways in which new quality productive forces can drive cultural development. Drawing on case studies such as “digital avatars”, “digital cinema” and “digital cultural heritage”, he highlighted how technological empowerment inevitably creates new values for the cultural industry. Moreover, he shared ten essential tips with the students, emphasizing the importance of “maintaining creativity and patience, and fostering an entrepreneurial spirit”.

Yu Yuhan, alumnus and President of Tangel Publishing Co., Ltd., provided an overview of his company, including its history, corporate strategies, and business highlights. He emphasized that the integration of culture and technology represents a strategic investment perspective, where the fusion of these two domains represents the mutual integration and reinforcement of elements within the TMT (technology, media and telecommunications) industry ecosystem. He delved into the company's innovative ventures and practical experiences in integrating culture with technology across various fields, such as digital collectible trading platforms, virtual social entertainment scenarios, virtual site management, ACG (anime,comic and games) social platforms, and the application of AI in education. The intention behind sharing this information was to foster an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset among students.

A roundtable discussion with the alumni ensued. The panel included Professor Li Jianfei, Vice Dean of the School of Business Administration; Professor Wang Song, Vice Dean of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies; and alumni such as General Manager Chen Sheng of Hunan Maibao E-commerce Co., Ltd., as well as Hu Yong and Yu Yuhan. They delved into topics such as “the impact of AI on the transformation and development of the cultural industry”, “the translation of technological advancements into real-world applications and the collaboration with industrial enterprises”, “the essential elements for setting up a live streaming e-commerce business”, “the technological research directions of the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies” and “the fundamental components for enterprises to drive technological innovation”.

The session was charged with a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship, showcasing the symbiotic dance of technology and culture. The students were highly engaged, as they were introduced to the enticing world of innovation and entrepreneurship in an atmosphere that was both enlightening and enjoyable. They gained profound insights into the process of setting up a business as college students, which significantly boosted their confidence in academic pursuits and future career development.
