HUTB Holds Grand 2024 Annual “July 1” Awards Conference

Drawing inspiration from exemplary figures, we advance with determination. On the evening of July 1, HUTB held the 2024 Annual “July 1” Awards Conference at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall of the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), along with other Chief Leaders and Members of the CPC HUTB Committee, attended the conference. All officials at the departmental level and above, Party branch secretaries, award recipients, provincial and municipal "Party representatives, National People's Congress representatives, and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference members," as well as retired Party members and representatives of faculty and student Party members, attended the event. The conference was chaired by Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB.
The conference began with the solemn national anthem. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of CAE, gave a speech. On behalf of the CPC HUTB Committee, she extended warm congratulations to all the advanced Party organizations and outstanding individuals who were honored. She pointed out that this year marks the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Over the past year, under the strong leadership of the CPC HUTB Committee, grassroots Party organizations at all levels and the majority of Party members and cadres actively responded to the CPC HUTB Committee's decisions and policies. They effectively utilized the guiding role of Party building, continuously transforming the Party's political, organizational, and grassroots advantages into a powerful driving force for the university's high-quality and leapfrog development. They organized, united, and led Party members, cadres, faculty and staff to deepen reforms, forge ahead, and create a new phase in the university's development.
First, the Party building has made significant progress. HUTB has conducted high-quality education on implementing Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The foundation of grassroots Party organizations has been continuously strengthened, with breakthroughs in national and provincial-level "Creation and Excellence" projects in Party building. The "Lectures for Cadres" brand has been increasingly prominent, and the development of a high-quality cadre team has been continuously reinforced, leading to the emergence of several provincial-level exemplary models, including "Outstanding Communist Party Members," "Outstanding Party Workers," and "Advanced Grassroots Party Organizations."
Second, the development of the university’s course has achieved new leaps. The university has adhered to a deep integration of Party building with its core activities, ensuring simultaneous progress in both areas. The schools’ disciplinary layout has evolved with the times, research and innovation have sparked new vitality, and the quality of talent cultivation has continually improved. The entity operation of the Xiangjiang Laboratory has been effectively advanced, contributing to technological innovation leading to industrial innovation, accelerating the formation of new quality productive forces, supporting the development of global R&D center cities, and promoting the rise of the central region, thus achieving accelerated progress in construction and development.
Third, the sense of satisfaction and happiness among teachers and students has significantly improved. Campus construction and management have been revitalized, with changes happening incrementally each year, major transformations every three years, substantial changes every five years, and profound evolution every ten years. The “Digital Intelligence Campus 3.0” project is actively advancing, “Happy HUTB” continues to add vibrancy, and the distinctive brands of “Innovative HUTB,” “Cultural HUTB,” and “Artistic HUTB” have been further refined. The university’s development has received strong recognition and high praise from leaders at all levels.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong has put forward three hopes and requirements regarding the university’s solid implementation of party discipline education and learning: First, strengthen ideals and beliefs, and cultivate a strong Party character. All Party members in the university should consciously promote the great spirit of the Party’s founding, remember the original mission of communists, solidify the foundation of their beliefs, reinforce their spiritual resolve, and steer their thoughts in the right direction. Second, strengthen the awareness of responsibility and lead by example in practical work. Party members and officials should continuously enhance their sense of duty, approach their responsibilities with a persistent sense of vigilance, and embody a proactive spirit, always pursuing truth and practicality. Third, hone disciplinary conduct and embrace self-revolution. All Party members in the university should use Party discipline education as an opportunity to deeply grasp the significance of the Party's self-revolution, continuously enhance their Party spirit, ideological standards, and moral level, collectively uphold a clean and positive political environment and educational setting, and work together to foster the flourishing development of the university’s course.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong stated that the new journey is a glorious and dream-filled expedition. We must unite more closely around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, deeply understand the decisive significance of the "two establishments," resolutely uphold the "two safeguards," earnestly fulfill the general requirements for Party building in the new era, fully implement the Party's education policies, promote the great spirit of Party founding, and steadily advance the Party building work within the university. We should continually enhance the creativity, cohesion, and combat effectiveness of Party organizations at all levels, liberate our thinking, forge ahead, and use high-quality Party building to lead the high-quality development of the university's course.
He Longde, Secretary of the HUTB Commission for Discipline Inspection, read out the Decision on Recognizing the Outstanding Communist Party Member Models, Outstanding Communist Party Members, Excellent Party Workers, and Advanced Grassroots Party Organizations for 2024. He expressed hope that the awarded individuals and advanced organizations would cherish their honors, remain modest and cautious, continue their efforts, and achieve even greater accomplishments. He also encouraged all Party members to focus on their roles, work diligently, and contribute more significantly to achieving the university's strategic goals of "Three Advances and Three Highs" and building a distinctive, innovative, first-class university of technology and business.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong awarded plaques to the national model Party branches and the university-level "Outstanding Communist Party Member Models." Chief Leaders and CPC HUTB Committee members presented plaques to representatives of the university-level "Advanced Secondary CPC Organizations" and "Advanced Party Branches," and issued certificates of honor to the university-level "Outstanding Communist Party Members" and "Excellent Party Workers." The event was met with enthusiastic applause and a vibrant atmosphere.
Outstanding teacher Party member representative Xie Zhiyuan shared in his speech the collective achievements and personal insights gained under the Party's banner and the strong leadership of the CPC HUTB Committee. He expressed that in his future work, he will be driven by the determination and enthusiasm of "I want to take on the challenge, and I can succeed," remain true to his mission, continually seek glory, embrace a spirit of heroism, and strive to reach new heights, contributing to the high-quality development of the university’s various endeavors.
Outstanding student Party member representative Long Mingrui stated in her speech that she would never let down the organization's expectations. She is committed to rooting deeply and growing upwards, upholding the resolute vow of "Rest assured, Party, I will contribute to a strong nation." She aims to chase the light, pursue dreams, and run with the wind, working hard to become a high-quality individual with a global perspective, patriotic sentiment, professional expertise, and a compassionate heart.
