[Integrated Development of Culture and Technology] HUTB Holds Faculty and Staff’s Red Poetry Recitation and Red Song Choir Competition

To warmly celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, on the evening of July 5, the university held the final gala of the "Recite and Sing Red Classics, Inherit Red Genes" faculty and staff’s red poetry recitation and red song choir competition. This event was part of the “Integrated Development of Culture and Technology” theme education season, and took place in the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Liu Guoquan and Yang Liangqi, Members of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents of HUTB, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, and Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and Chairman of the Labour Union, attended, and joined teachers and students in appreciating red culture, revisiting red history, and promoting the red spirit.

The event was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee and the Labour Union. Special guests included Zhou Yuefeng, Vice Chairman of CHORUS--CHINA, Vice President of Hunan Musicians Association, and doctoral supervisor, Xiao Ming, State Council Special Allowance Expert, National First-Class Conductor, and Dean of the School of Music of HUTB, Liao Hongli, Resident Vice President of Hunan Musicians Association, and Executive Editor of "Yinyue Jiaoyu Yu Chuangzuo" magazine, Tang Yongqiang, composer, music educator, and Chairman of Hunan Chorus Association's Composition Committee, Tang Huichi, Vice Dean of the School of Music, Professor Yang Yang, and Dr. Wang Long, who served as judges for the final. The event was hosted by young teachers Song Wei and Zhou Hao from the School of Music.

Deputy Secretary Yi Mianyang delivered a speech on behalf of the university. He encouraged the participating performance teams to sing with passion and compete brilliantly, collectively showcasing their unwavering faith in always following the Party and the powerful momentum of advancing on a new journey. He also extended his best wishes for the success of the competition.

The recitation and chorus competition, which started in May this year, held preliminary selections on June 28. From 27 branch labour union representative teams, 9 advanced to the finals. At the final event, under the direction and accompaniment of professional music instructors, the advancing teams presented their recitation and choral pieces with brilliant and inventive arrangements, passionate performances, and perfectly showcased the spirit of HUTB’s faculty and staff in listening to and following the Party, as well as their courage, determination, and hardworking spirit.

The Xiangjiang Laboratory's branch labour union recited the original poem "Xiangjiang Innovation Ode" and performed the original choral song "Striving for Excellence on the Xiangjiang River: Song of the Xiangjiang Laboratory." These performances stirred up a passionate ambition to realize the vision of "Three Highlands, Four New Missions" and to contribute to high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.

The branch labour union of the School of Intelligent Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing recited the poem "Ode to Changsha" and performed the choral song "Ode to the Motherland," showcasing the spirited enthusiasm of revolutionary youth and passionately praising the magnificent landscapes and dynamic spirit of the great motherland. The branch labour union of the School of Physical Education and Health recited the poem "My Homeland, My Dear Homeland" and performed the choral song "The Motherland Will Never Forget," deeply honoring those who have contributed to the nation's development and devoted themselves to the national rejuvenation while remaining anonymous. The branch labour union of the Administrative Department I recited the poem "Prisoner Song" and performed the choral song "Pursuit," deeply expressing the steadfast belief of Chinese Communists in their ultimate struggle for the liberation of the proletariat and all humanity, as well as the realization of communism. The branch labour union of the School of Accountancy recited and sang "Ode to the Motherland," encapsulating patriotic voices, the hearts of the people, and the soul of the nation, conveying boundless love for the motherland and wishes for a bright future.

The branch labour union of the School of Marxism Studies recited the poem "Ode to the Motherland" and performed the choral song "On the Field of Hope," showcasing the arduous journey of the Party leading the people in winning the battle against poverty and the noble spirit of "Staying True to Our Original Aspiration and Founding Mission." The branch labour union of the Logistics Management Service Center recited the poem "Full River Red" and performed the choral song "Song in My Heart," highlighting the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation and inspiring people to work tenaciously and strive hard for the bright future of the country and the nation. The branch labour union of the School of Business Administration recited the poem "Snow To the tune of Chin Yuan Chun" and performed the choral song "My Motherland and Me," expressing unwavering confidence and determination to follow the Chinese path, as well as deep affection and attachment to the motherland. The branch labour union of the Library recited the original poem "Ode to the Academy" and performed the choral song "My Motherland," conveying boundless love for the country and homeland, along with a heroic spirit, while showcasing the promising blueprint for HUTB in the new era.

During the competition, the young teachers from the Labour Union of School of Music performed the songs "I Love You, China," "Stay True to Our Original Aspiration," and "Ten Sendoffs with the Red Army," showcasing their excellent singing skills and professional musical standards. They passionately expressed their boundless affection for the Party and the motherland, and earnestly wished for the prosperity and stability of our nation.

After the judges reviewed and announced the scores on-site, the branch labour unions of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, Logistics Management Service Center, and School of Business Administration were awarded first place. The branch labour unions of the School of Physical Education and Health, Administrative Department I, Library, School of Intelligent Engineering and Intelligent Manufacturing, School of Marxism Studies, and School of Accountancy received second place. The venue erupted with enthusiastic applause and cheers, warmly congratulating the winning teams.

Finally, Chief Leaders and guests took the stage to join the faculty and students in singing "The Love of the Republic," "Song of the Yangtze River," "Ode to the Motherland," and the "Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business." Through their passionate singing, they celebrated the great Party and the great motherland, rallying the university with a powerful spirit to achieve high-quality development in the new era. They inspired and united the faculty, students, and staff to steadfastly pursue and tirelessly strive toward the goal of building a distinguished and innovative first-class university of technology and business.
