2024-07-17

On July 13, the on-site finals of the Industry-Education Integration Track at the 4th National Teaching Innovation Contest for College Teachers, organized by the Department of Education of Hunan Province, successfully concluded. HUTB’s two teaching teams that participated in the on-site finals—the team led by Professor He Tianxiang from the School of Public Administration and Human Geography, and the team led by Professor Li Mi from the School of Economy & Trade—both won first prizes. HUTB is the only institution in Hunan Province to receive two first prizes. Professor He Tianxiang’s team will represent Hunan Province in the national competition.

In this competition, a total of 52 ordinary colleges and universities in the province (including independent colleges) recommended 71 teacher teams to participate in the semi-finals. After expert network reviews, 25 teacher teams advanced to the finals. Both teacher teams recommended by HUTB for the provincial semi-finals qualified for the on-site finals.

In recent years, the university has been effectively implementing the fundamental task of fostering morality and cultivating talents, continuously strengthening the central position of undergraduate teaching, enhancing the teaching proficiency of faculty members, and adhering to the concept of integrating "New engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" with the development of science. By empowering teaching through "Artificial Intelligence+" and promoting interdisciplinary communication and collaboration through teaching competitions, the university aims to break down barriers between disciplines and improve the quality of talent cultivation.

Since the launch of the teaching innovation competition’s Industry-Education Integration Track in March 2024, the CPC HUTB Committee has attached great importance to it, and the Undergraduate School and relevant secondary schools have organized it carefully. The school-level preliminary and final rounds, provincial semi-finals, and finals, spanned over four months, during which participating teachers have invested a significant amount of time and effort in continuously refining and perfecting their competition works. The Undergraduate School has formulated detailed preparation plans, organized careful guidance from experts inside and outside the province, and conducted multiple training sessions to refine the teaching videos, innovation reports, and on-site presentations of the participating teachers.

In the next phase, the university will continue to advance teaching, learning, reform, and development through competition, promote innovation in teaching methods and updates in content, consolidate competition achievements, guide teachers in innovating curriculum, deepen industry-education integration, improve collaboration between universities and industry in talent cultivation, enhance the quality of independent training for and innovation capabilities of top innovative talents, and steadily raise the quality of undergraduate education and teaching.
