Chief Leaders Conduct Inspections of Laboratory Construction Work

Build high-level laboratories to create a "high ground" for technological innovation. On September 19, Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, along with Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, conducted an in-depth inspection of the laboratory sites, including the Xiangjiang Building and the Technology Building, to review the university's laboratory construction projects for 2024 (the first and second batches).
Chief Leaders conducted on-site inspections of 14 newly established laboratory platforms, including the Humanoid Robot (Embodied AI) Interdiscriplinary Innovation Laboratory, Advanced Optoelectronic Device Integration Laboratory, Intelligent Sensing and Flexible Manufacturing Laboratory, Advanced Energy Storage Materials and Devices Laboratory, Brain-Inspired and Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory, Quantum Information Laboratory, and High-Performance Graphics Virtual Simulation Laboratory. They highly affirmed the achievements of the responsible units in the construction of these laboratories and visited and encouraged the faculty and students engaged in research and study in the new labs.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong emphasized that laboratories are important platforms for talent cultivation, scientific research, social services, and cultural innovation. They are conducive to nurturing more talents in fundamental disciplines, emerging fields, and interdisciplinary studies, as well as top-notch innovative talents. This will promote high-level scientific research outcomes and the high-quality conversion and application of technological achievements. It is essential to build and utilize the university’s laboratories to high standards and requirements. Secretary Chen Xiaohong also put forward new requirements for further improving laboratory support facilities, optimizing the teaching and research environment and conditions, and strengthening laboratories in line with the development needs of academic disciplines and majors.
Inrecent years, the university has adhered to the guidance of XiJinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a NewEra and has implemented the CPC HUTB Committee's plans to strengthenlaboratory construction. It has advanced the integration ofeducational development, technological innovation, and talentcultivation, focusing on enhancing high-level laboratoryconstruction. This aims to create favorable experimental and trainingconditions for cultivating innovative, entrepreneurial, applied, andinterdisciplinary senior specialized talents with engineeringpractice capabilities, innovation and entrepreneurship awareness,digital thinking, and cross-disciplinary integration skills, therebylaying a solid foundation for building a distinctive and innovativefirst-class technology and business university.
