Following preliminary university-level selections, 1,064 contestants from 42 institutions across the province advanced to the provincial round, with 263 finalists qualifying for the on-site finals in public speaking and interpretation events.

Centering on the theme "Understanding China, Communicating with the World," the contest implemented the fundamental task of fostering virtue and nurturing talent, further promoting the integration of multi-language editions of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China into university curricula, teaching materials, and classrooms. The competition events were closely aligned with the demands for cultivating foreign language talents in the new era, combining practicality and innovation to comprehensively assess students' foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural competence, critical thinking, and innovative capabilities. The competition's design guided participants to deeply study and grasp the core principles of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, understand China's path, governance, and logic, cultivate national pride and global perspective, and highlight the distinct feature of foreign language education resonating with national development.
Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, stated that in response to the national need for international communication capacity building, the university has innovatively established a "Foreign Languages+" interdisciplinary talent cultivation model. By deeply integrating professional competitions into the entire teaching process, the university effectively stimulates student potential and enhances teaching quality and educational outcomes. Simultaneously, the university vigorously promotes the integration of foreign languages with disciplines such as economics, law, and journalism, aiming to develop students' interdisciplinary knowledge structure and comprehensive problem-solving abilities.
The competition showcased the outstanding achievements of foreign language education reform in Hunan Province's universities. Amid China's deepening exchanges and cooperation with the world, universities in our province continue to explore innovative approaches to talent cultivation, dedicated to nurturing high-quality, interdisciplinary foreign language professionals who possess patriotic sentiment, global perspective, and professional competence, thereby contributing to "telling China's stories well and conveying China's voice effectively."
