In their highly cited literature Theoretical Framework and Research Prospect of Digital Economy, Academician Chen Xiaohong's team focuses on the impact of digital technology transformation on the development of fundamental economic theories, aiming to contribute to the establishment of a digital economy theoretical system with Chinese characteristics. The study first identifies key scientific questions in the development of digital economy theory as its logical starting point. Based on the academic chain of "connotative characteristics–practical manifestations–core theories–methodological systems," it constructs a theoretical framework for the digital economy. Subsequently, it elaborates on the connotation and characteristics of the digital economy, its core theories, and the research methodology system under technological transformation. Finally, the study emphasizes the expansion of the digital economy theoretical system and outlines future research directions. The article points out that with the continuous advancement of new-generation digital technologies, key questions for future theoretical and empirical research on the digital economy will include: how these technologies impact economic theory, how economic theory can better explain, support, and guide the digital transformation of industries, and how to refine the digital economy theoretical system within China's context to guide high-quality economic development practices.
