On July 25, officials from the CPC Committee of the Guangzhou Railway Group's Changsha Passenger Transport Division visited Jingtang Subdistrict, Baidishi Town, Qidong County, Hunan Province, to meet Chen Yanbo, a sophomore at HUTB, who was injured while bravely protecting passengers on train K1347. They awarded him a 5,000 yuan special contribution bonus for railway security and defense, commending his courageous actions in a critical situation and promoting positive energy.
On July 8, aboard train K1347 from Xi'an to Shenzhen, a passenger suddenly lost control and took a young girl hostage with glass shards. Seeing the danger, Chen Yanbo and four other passengers bravely intervened, fighting the attacker alongside train police and staff. They subdued the attacker and rescued the girl, who had several facial cuts. Chen Yanbo, Qu Chenxi, and train attendant Xiao Henghui in carriage 2 were injured to varying degrees by the attacker. The assailant has been handed over to the police for further action.
To promote social integrity, the CPC Committee of the Changsha Passenger Transport Division, representing the Guangzhou Railway Group, recently visited Chen Yanbo and Mr. Qu Chenxi in Qidong County, Hunan Province, and Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, respectively. They awarded each of them a 5,000 yuan special contribution bonus for railway security and defense. Additionally, they sent letters of appreciation to the Guangdong branch of Rongtong Real Estate Property Management Co., Ltd., where Mr. Qu works, and to HUTB, where Chen Yanbo studies. The letters expressed gratitude for their courageous actions in fighting against criminals and for their efforts in maintaining railway order and protecting the safety of passengers' lives and property.
Chen Yanbo said, "The situation was extremely urgent at the time. The five of us, who were strangers to each other, had only one thought: we must not let the little girl's life be harmed! We worked together to surround and fight the attacker, and managed to rescue the little girl."
Train attendant Xiao Henghui said, "I was just fulfilling my duty to protect the passengers from harm. Although I was also injured a bit, I am relieved that the little girl was not seriously hurt."
It is understood that three other passengers also participated in the brave struggle. They said, "In such an emergency situation, we should bravely step forward to stop it! This is what we should do."
