2024-07-17

From July 8 to 13, the 4th China College Student Taiji Push Hands Championship was held in Nantong, Jiangsu. The event featured nearly 500 competitors from 66 universities across the country, including Beijing Sport University, Shanghai University of Sport, and HUTB, all showcasing the rich charm of traditional martial arts culture. The competition included events such as Taiji push hands combat, intangible cultural heritage demonstrations, dynamic push hands, and team competitions, with 12 different levels.

Under the leadership of Vice Dean Li Zhiwei and coaches Li Shuangming and Liang Xian, HUTB's team achieved impressive results, winning 1 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals. This marked the university's first gold medal in Taiji push hands, adding new brilliance to our martial arts and traditional sports education. Taijiquan is a traditional martial art of the Chinese nation, and Taiji push hands, as a practical component of Taijiquan, demonstrates the perfect combination of competition and artistry.

With the strong emphasis from the CPC HUTB Committee, our martial arts team’s coaches and members have trained hard and persevered, achieving excellent results and furthering the university’s development of "Sports HUTB." The team will continue to excel, bring honor to HUTB, and showcase the outstanding qualities and professional skills of our students. (Reported by School of Physical Education and Health)
