HUTB Achieves Outstanding Results in National College Student Soft Tennis Championships

From July 16 to 19, the 2nd National College Student Soft Tennis Championships were held in Tangshan, Hebei. Under the leadership of Teachers Li Dongqi, Wang Yin, and Zeng Tongyi from the School of Physical Education and Health, HUTB’s tennis team achieved impressive results, including first and second places in the Group A mixed doubles, second place in the women's team event, third place in both women's singles and women's doubles, fifth place in men's doubles, and fifth place in the men's team event.

The competition was organized by the China Student Sports Federation and executed by its university tennis division. It included seven events: men's team, women's team, men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. A total of 220 student athletes from 20 universities across the country gathered to compete and showcase their skills.

In the group stage, women's singles players Chen Yiling and Xiang Na both advanced to the top eight by finishing first in their groups. They each defeated their opponents from Chang'an University with impressive scores of 4:0, achieving a 100% win rate. Men's doubles players Liu Meng and Zhu Aoxing reached the top eight by winning their matches with scores of 5:3 and 5:0, securing first place in their group. In women's doubles, Chen Yiling and Xiang Na, along with Pan Yingnuo and Luo Meng, faced strong opponents with dedication and persistence, advancing to the semifinals with their strong will and adaptable tactics.

In the quarterfinals, mixed doubles teams Wang Jiaxi and Luo Meng, as well as Liu Meng and Pan Yingnuo, advanced to the semifinals with scores of 5:0 and 5:2, respectively. In the semifinals, Liu Meng and Pan Yingnuo defeated their opponents from Chang'an University with a score of 5:1, moving on to the finals. Wang Jiaxi and Luo Meng faced strong opponents from Yili Normal University and remained calm and composed on the court, delivering a series of impressive returns. With their ample stamina and consistent play, they won the tiebreaker 7:4, advancing to the finals and ultimately securing the gold medal.

In tennis matches, every rally and every point demand the players' full commitment. In this competition, our school's athletes maintained their composure even when facing tough opponents. They adapted their strategies based on their own strengths, their opponents' level, and the style of play, making every effort to handle each ball effectively. We are confident that the students will continue to improve and surpass themselves, showcasing even greater brilliance on the tennis court.
