HUTB Women's and Men's Basketball Teams Win Second Place and Fourth Place Respectively in Provincial College Students Basketball Tournament

Recently, the 27th Hunan Province College Students Basketball Tournament concluded in Changsha. HUTB's women's and men's basketball teams fought hard and advanced through the competition, ultimately securing second place and fourth place in the finals, respectively.
The HUTB women's basketball team was led by head coach Cao Bin and assistant coach Li Menglong. At the competition site, the players demonstrated excellent teamwork and unleashed their full potential. With superb skills and indomitable determination, they defeated their opponents with a strong 24-point lead. After that, HUTB's women's basketball team continued their momentum, defeating teams from Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Hunan University of Chinese Medicine (the previous champion), and National University of Defense Technology (NUDT) with scores of 71:60, 45:37, and 69:55, respectively. In the semifinals, HUTB faced off against NUDT. The NUDT team, with their strong physical attributes, engaged in a fierce competition with our women's basketball team. In the end, our team secured victory with a score of 69:55, advancing confidently to the final. In the final, HUTB faced Hunan Institute of Technology. Our players upheld their usual tenacious spirit, fighting for every ball and every point, fully demonstrating the fighting spirit and determination of the students of HUTB. In the end, they secured the runner-up position in the women's division of the tournament.
The HUTB men's basketball team was led by head coach Fang Junlei and assistant coach Lu Jianing. In the group stage, our men's basketball team displayed strong fighting ability, winning all three of their matches. In their matchups against Hunan University, Hunan Institute of Traffic Engineering, and Changsha Medical University, they won with scores of 65:44, 65:51, and 68:56, respectively. With this perfect record, they advanced to the top eight as the group leaders. In the quarterfinals, our men's basketball team faced a tough opponent, NUDT (the previous champion). They narrowly defeated their rivals with a score of 54:49, successfully advancing to the semifinals. Ultimately, they secured fourth place in the men's division of the tournament.
In recent years, the CPC HUTB Committee has placed great emphasis on the development of "Sports HUTB." Since their establishment, HUTB's men’s and women’s basketball teams have been dedicated to training and have gradually emerged as a strong contender in the Hunan provincial college students’ basketball second division league, growing into a formidable force not to be underestimated. Our women's basketball team won the provincial championship in 2019 and 2022, reached the top 16 in the national competition in 2022, and advanced to the top 12 in 2023. Our men's basketball team secured the provincial runner-up title in 2023 and possesses the strength to contend for the championship.
