Hunan Vice Governor Wang Junshou Conducts A Research Visit to Xiangjiang Laboratory

On the afternoon of November 29, Wang Junshou, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Hunan Province, conducted a research visit to the Xiangjiang Laboratory. He was accompanied by Chen Xiaohong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee.
Meng Xiangding, First Director General Level Officer of the General Office of the People's Government of Hunan Province, Qian Junjun, Director of the Administration for Market Regulation of Hunan Province, Liao Xiangyue, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President of HUTB, Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, Yi Mianyang, Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory and Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, and Hu Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, also participated in the research visit.
Vice Governor Wang Junshou and his delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the Xiangjiang Laboratory's scientific achievements exhibition hall. They watched promotional videos showcasing the laboratory and its innovative results, reviewed the Xiangjiang Laboratory's compilation of scientific and technological achievements, and explored the latest scientific theoretical works by Academician Chen Xiaohong’s team. The delegation also visited advanced laboratories and innovation centers in areas such as intelligent manufacturing, industrial intelligent control, environmental intelligent monitoring and sensing, intelligent robotics, artificial intelligence, smart cities, smart society, the integration of culture and technology, humanoid robots (embodied AI) and cross-disciplinary innovation, advanced optoelectronic device integration, integrated circuit testing and packaging, advanced energy storage materials and devices, brain-inspired and cognitive neuroscience, quantum information and quantum technology, among others. They were briefed on the Xiangjiang Laboratory's operational model, the establishment of research teams, scientific exchange and collaboration, technological application scenarios, technology transfer, the commercialization of scientific achievements, award-winning research, and invention patent authorizations, and expressed high recognition for these developments.
Academician Chen Xiaohong introduced the basic overview and construction achievements of the Xiangjiang Laboratory. She stated that, as the first provincial laboratory to be officially established, Xiangjiang Laboratory, under the strong leadership of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, has continuously enhanced its operational capabilities. It has adhered to the development strategy of "integrating data, algorithm, computing power and computing network, leading innovation, and intelligent computing for the future." The laboratory has assembled a high-level scientific innovation team, including more than 20 academicians and expert teams, and has established strategic collaborations with local governments, leading technology enterprises, and others. It has released a series of original products and scientific achievements to the public, achieving significant progress in its construction and development. A number of college student technology innovation teams cultivated by Xiangjiang Laboratory have consecutively won the top awards in various competitions, including the China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition, the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition, the Global Campus Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Elite Competition, and the "Challenge Cup" National College Students series of competitions.
Vice Governor Wang Junshou fully affirmed the significant achievements made in the construction and development of Xiangjiang Laboratory. He encouraged the Xiangjiang Laboratory to stay focused on its construction and development goals, actively serve the major strategic needs of the country and the significant economic and social development needs of Hunan Province, and further conduct innovative research around core elements of artificial intelligence and advanced computing, such as data, algorithms, computing power, and computing networks. He also urged the laboratory to accelerate the creation of more independent intellectual property, promote the transformation of technological patents into real productive forces, and help strengthen the chain of and enhance the efficiency of Hunan's digital economy industry.
