HUTB Holds Exchange Symposium with Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics

On the afternoon of December 5, an exchange symposium between HUTB and Zhejiang University of Finance & Economics (ZUFE) was held at the Zhiyuan Lecture Hall on the sixth floor of Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Li Jinchang, Secretary of the CPC ZUFE Committee, Xu Xiaodong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC ZUFE Committee, Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, and Hou Junjun, Member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, attended the meeting. Relevant department heads from both sides also attended the event. Deputy Secretary Yi Mianyang presided over the symposium.
Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and CAE Academician, welcomed Secretary Li Jinchang and his delegation's visit. She pointed out that HUTB has achieved leapfrog development over the past decade, fully realizing its goals of "upgrading to a university, upgrading to a top-tier university, and establishing doctoral programs." The university has implemented an educational approach that integrates "new engineering courses + new business courses + new liberal arts courses" with the development of science. It has continuously adjusted and optimized the interdisciplinary layout of schools, disciplines, and majors, built five major discipline clusters, and developed high-level faculty teams and experimental platforms. The university has made remarkable achievements in nurturing top innovative talents, and its enrollment and employment work ranks among the top in the province. The university has taken the lead in building major high-level scientific and innovation platforms, such as the Xiangjiang Laboratory, a key science and technology initiative of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Hunan Province, and the first National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Basic Science Center project in central China. This year, the university received several prestigious science and technology innovation awards, including the He Liang He Li Foundation "Science and Technology Progress Award," the first prize for the Award for Outstanding Achievements in Scientific Research in Higher Education from the Ministry of Education, and the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award. Currently, the university has set new development goals to establish itself as an innovative, first-class university. She hopes that the two universities will further promote friendly exchanges and achieve mutually beneficial development.
Li Jinchang, Secretary of the CPC ZUFE Committee, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception extended by Academician Chen Xiaohong and HUTB. He introduced the history and development of ZUFE, as well as the university's approach to industry-education integration, college structure, discipline and program development, talent cultivation, faculty team, and campus construction. ZUFE is vigorously implementing its development strategy of "leading with Party building, establishing quality as the foundation, fostering talent for the university's growth, strengthening innovation, honoring culture, and building a prestigious alumni network." The university is striving to build a distinctive, first-class university of finance and economics. He pointed out that HUTB has achieved significant development in recent years. The university's series of successful experiences and practices, such as the Party leadership concept integrated throughout, the ideological and political work concept, the discipline and program development concept, the talent cultivation concept, the scientific research and innovation concept, and the campus culture construction concept, are worth in-depth learning and adoption by ZUFE. He hopes that the two universities will deepen their friendly cooperation and promote better development for both.
At the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as Party leadership in the development of the university, the integration of education, technology, and talent reform, the construction of "one-stop" student communities, ideological and political work for students, and the creation of a vibrant campus culture, arts, and sports atmosphere. They expressed their expectation to further deepen communication and cooperation, working together to promote higher-quality development for both universities.
