Onboarding and Training Opening Ceremony for New Employees at Xiangjiang Laboratory Successfully Held

Riding the wind and breaking the waves, it's the perfect time to set sail. To effectively enhance the sense of mission, responsibility, and belonging among new employees, the onboarding and training opening ceremony for new employees at Xiangjiang Laboratory was held on December 18 at the Zhizhi Lecture Hall in the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician, Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Hu Chunhua, Deputy Director of the Xiangjiang Laboratory, among others, attended the meeting. The heads of relevant departments of Xiangjiang Laboratory and all employees attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Executive Deputy Director Liu Guoquan.
Academician Chen Xiaohong warmly welcomed the new employees. Drawing from her own research experience and the development achievements of Xiangjiang Laboratory, she expressed high expectations for the new employees. She pointed out that China is currently in a critical stage where rapidly achieving high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology is of utmost importance. It is essential to fully implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on the "Four Orientations," promoting scientific research to expand towards the macro scale, delve into the micro scale, advance under extreme conditions, and push for integrated interdisciplinary efforts. We should establish lofty ideals, focus on solving the "bottleneck" issues, and continuously leverage the key role of major scientific innovation platforms in concentrated problem-solving, undertaking major tasks, and gathering scientific research forces. We should conduct research right here on our motherland's land and strive with a strong sense of mission to make significant fundamental, strategic, and original achievements. She stated that promoting the integration of culture and technology is a major mission entrusted to Hunan by the CPC Central Committee and General Secretary Xi Jinping. It is crucial to fully leverage the innovative advantages of Xiangjiang Laboratory, focusing on the deep integration of science, humanities, and arts, and building a hub for the integrated development of culture and technology. This should closely align with scientific research practices and the practical needs of enterprises, ensuring that the research is truly groundbreaking and impactful. The technological strength of Xiangjiang Laboratory should become a powerful support in giving back to the country and society. Academician Chen Xiaohong also introduced to everyone the many advantages of Changsha as one of "China's Happiest Cities," in education, healthcare, transportation, and more. She highlighted the comprehensive support provided by Xiangjiang Laboratory for everyone's work and daily life, and wished everyone the ability to work happily, live a high-quality life, and embark on a new chapter of a happy and fulfilling life.
Guo Yumeng and Tan Hui, as representatives of the new employees, spoke on behalf of their peers. They expressed their confidence and determination to actively integrate into the Xiangjiang Laboratory team, stay grounded, and strive for progress. They are committed to seeking innovation in the fusion of scientific research and practice, accumulating upward momentum on a solid foundation, and achieving a dual leap in both platform and personal development.
After the opening ceremony, the heads of various departments at Xiangjiang Laboratory conducted systematic training focusing on their main business. The head of the publicity department gave a presentation on the laboratory's construction and culture. The heads of the R&D and external relations departments introduced the team's major key projects. The head of the project management department shared the process for applying for research projects. The head of the technology transfer department explained the research policies, intellectual property, and achievements transformation policies. The head of the administrative management department provided an introduction to the laboratory's organizational structure and management team, confidentiality work, and asset management regulations and requirements. The head of the human resources department explained personnel and talent-related systems. The head of the infrastructure and logistics support department systematically introduced conference etiquette. The head of the finance and audit department explained the financial system, and the head of the library introduced how to utilize library resources. Outstanding employee representatives Yuan Yige, Heng Liang, Shi Guangze, and Zhang Zhen shared their insights and experiences in scientific research with all present.
Xiangjiang Laboratory will continue to uphold the principles of openness, innovation, and collaboration, providing new employees with more growth platforms and development opportunities, and jointly promoting the laboratory to achieve even greater accomplishments in the field of scientific and technological innovation.
