HUTB Holds "Love at HUTB" North Campus Winter Concert

Play the winter melody of the campus, and let the voices of students soar. On the evening of December 19th, the HUTB 2024 (Autumn-Winter) Campus Music Season "Love at HUTB" North Campus Winter Concert was held at the Hongyi Lecture Hall. Yang Liangqi, member of the CPC HUTB Committee and Vice President of HUTB, along with leaders from relevant functional departments, the North Campus Management Committee, and students, all enjoyed this wonderful and heartwarming concert together.

This concert is hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Committee, the HUTB Committee of the CYLC, and the School of Music. Professor Xiao Ming, a national first-class conductor and the Dean of the School of Music, served as the music director and conductor, while young teacher Li Cheng hosted the event. The members of the HUTB - Xiangjiang Laboratory "Culture + Technology" Integrated Development Alliance, including the Xiangjiang Symphony Orchestra Chamber Ensemble, Changge Vocal Ensemble, Changhong Student Symphony Orchestra, Changya Traditional Music Ensemble, and young faculty members from the School of Music, performed at the event.

The concert officially kicked off with the exciting and intense melody of the traditional Chinese music ensemble "Climb the Mountain to Beat the Tiger." The brisk, lively, and powerful rhythm instantly ignited the atmosphere at the venue. The melody of "My Motherland and Me" was fresh and smooth, with a light and melodious rhythm that expresses people's patriotic feelings. The baritone solo "Don Juan's Serenade" was beautiful and captivating, with its delicate embellishments showcasing the charm of the melody. The female duet "Elegy of the Orchid" blended classical music with modern techniques, featuring a classical and elegant style with a gentle and graceful melody. The female duet "I Love You Snow Beyond the Great Wall" had a flowing melody and delicate emotions, praising the resilience and dedication of the people in the northern regions. The chamber music ensemble of "Waves of the Danube Waltz" and "Waltz of the Flowers" was elegant, romantic, bright, and lively, full of ethnic charm. The female solo "Welcome" was passionate and gentle, vividly expressing the anticipation and longing for the future. The male solos "Our Song" and "When" showcased the vibrant energy of youth with passionate voices and captivating melodies. The chamber music pieces "The North Wind is Blowing" and "España Cañi" had distinctly different styles, yet the flawless performance transported the audience into two stunningly beautiful worlds, leaving them entranced.

The orchestral pieces "March of Steel Torrent," "Soul of the Chinese Army," and "Singing a Folk Song For the Communist Party" resonated with a majestic force, playing the anthem of soldiers and embodying their loyalty and responsibility in defending the country. "Dance of the Yao People" featured a lively rhythm and cheerful melody, showcasing the charm of ethnic culture and the beautiful image of national unity. The encore song "Handclap" had a lively rhythm and an energetic melody, expressing the passionate spirit of youth. Finally, the entire audience joined in the chorus of the "Selections from Mayday," with strong beats and an uplifting melody resonating with the crowd. Holding up their flashlights, the concert concluded on a high note, filled with enthusiasm and excitement.

After the concert, the students in the audience were deeply moved. Wang Jie, a student from the School of Art & Design, remarked, "This concert allowed me to see a vibrant and colorful side of campus life and feel the immense talent and passion hidden within my fellow students. When the students lit up their flashlights and sang along with the teachers, the words 'Love at HUTB' were brought to life, leaving me with lasting memories."

Luo Yuxuan, a student from the School of International Business, expressed, "The concert was incredibly infectious, and the atmosphere was really warm. The interaction between the teachers and students made me feel like being with family. Despite the cold winter, HUTB provided me with the warmth and touching feelings of home, exactly as the theme 'Love at HUTB' suggests. I believe this is the essence of music—it conveys emotions and strength, allowing the audience to empathize, and will continue to inspire us in the days ahead."
