HUTB Holds "Moving Forward Together" 2025 New Year Concert

Move forward hand in hand, creating new brilliance together. On the evening of December 30, the HUTB "Moving Forward Together" 2025 New Year Concert was held passionately at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall in the Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, Yang Liangqi and Gan Dejian, Members of CPC HUTB Committee and Vice Presidents of HUTB, Yi Mianyang, Deputy Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, along with faculty, students, and guests, enjoyed classic music works from both China and abroad, welcoming the arrival of 2025 together.


This concert was jointly organized by HUTB and Xiangjiang Laboratory, with the Publicity Department of the CPC HUTB Committee, the Labour Union, the HUTB Committee of the CYLC, and the School of Music as co-organizers. Xiao Ming, a national first-class conductor, Dean of the School of Music, and Lifetime Honorary Music Director of the Changsha Symphony Orchestra, served as the music director and conductor. Liu Qing, a member of the All-China Youth Federation, a member of the Hunan Youth Federation, and Vice Chairperson of the Hunan Literary and Art Volunteers’Association, served as the host. The world-renowned symphony orchestra, the Moscow State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, along with the Changyin Teachers Chorus of HUTB-Xiangjiang Laboratory "Culture + Technology" Integrated Development Alliance, the Changfeng Chorus, Changge Vocal Ensemble, young scientific and technological workers from Xiangjiang Laboratory, well-known domestic young artists, and young teachers from the School of Music performed with great passion. The specially invited young conductor from the Central Conservatory of Music, Xing Hancheng, served as the conductor, while Liu Junjie, a young teacher from the School of Music of HUTB, served as the choir conductor.









Accompanied by the Moscow State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the concert opened with the orchestral piece "Italian Capriccio," featuring rich melodies with distinct Italian folk characteristics, vividly presenting a joyful and festive celebration scene. The violin piece "Violin Concerto in D Major—First Movement" is lively and cheerful, echoing the passion of youth and the optimism of life. The soprano performance of "Mayra Variations" tells the story of a talented and beautiful Kazakh girl in a captivating manner. The orchestral piece "Roses from the South" is filled with Southern European charm and a romantic atmosphere, resembling a colorful painting. The pipa and orchestra performance "Spring of the Tianshan Mountains" starts with a slow rhythm that gradually quickens, powerful and resounding, bursting forth with the momentum of rivers and mountains surging forward. The soprano piece "Falling" is rich in Romantic style, with a soothing melody that presents a heartfelt and optimistic romantic sentiment. The orchestral piece "Coppelia Waltz" is humorous and lyrical, with smooth and beautiful melodies that immerse the listener in the enchanting sound. The soprano piece "O Mio Babbino Caro" perfectly depicts the touching scene of a daughter affectionately weeping to her father about her wishes.




During the interlude, the choir performance of "Proverbs about Love" and "China in the Lights" expressed deep and sincere love, resonating with the Chinese Dream of national prosperity, national rejuvenation, and the happiness of the people. The quintet "You Raise Me Up" is filled with the power and hope of growth, conveying genuine gratitude and admiration. The trio "Out of the Tiger's Mouth" and "Clouds That Blossom" express a desire to transcend reality and pursue beauty, singing about the attitude of perseverance, courage in facing difficulties, and the pursuit of freedom and happiness. In the subsequent medley of songs, one classic hit after another was performed, with teachers, students, and guests eagerly singing along. The entire audience joined in a unified chorus, raising the atmosphere of the event to a climax.




The second half opened with the orchestral piece "Masquerade," where a mysterious force flowed through the music, presenting an extraordinary ball. The "My Motherland" performance, featuring the erhu and the orchestra, showcased the boundless love and heroism of the volunteer soldiers for their country and homeland. The vocal and orchestra performances of "Moscow Nights," "Katyusha," and "Ode to Joy" with their melodious tunes, interpreted the deep emotions people feel for their country, families, and all beautiful things. The orchestral piece "Good News from Beijing to Borderland Villages" with its stirring and joyful music depicted the celebratory scene of the border villagers hearing the good news from Beijing.

"Sincerity & Credibility; Pragmatism & Innovation. Passing the torch, forging glory together..." Finally, the chief leaders took the stage and sang the "Song of Hunan University of Technology and Business" together with the teachers and students. The concert concluded on a high note, filled with the enthusiasm and joy of welcoming the New Year and setting sail for a new journey.
The passionate singing echoes the joy of the New Year, while the lively notes weave a beautiful future. The students watching the New Year concert were immersed in this high-level musical feast, sharing their thoughts on the performance and looking forward to the hopes and dreams of the new year.
Tang Pei, a student from the Academy of Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, expressed: "As the New Year of 2025 approaches, the 'Moving Forward Together' New Year concert is like a splendid cultural feast, inspiring us to forge ahead in the ocean of knowledge and encouraging us to strive for excellence in the academic field. The university's high-quality development lights the way forward for us, and we will live up to the university’s expectations by dedicating ourselves to learning, working diligently, and achieving excellent results to give back to the university's careful nurturing. We will walk hand in hand with the university and face the challenges of 2025 with even greater enthusiasm."
Peng Wei, a student from the School of Mathematics & Statistics, stated: "The New Year concert made me feel the shock of art and the fusion of cultures. The wonderful performance by the Moscow State Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra added a strong international atmosphere to the entire event. The concert not only allowed me to appreciate world-class symphonic music but also gave me a sense of the university's global vision in cultural development. As a student of HUTB, I feel deeply proud, and this will also motivate me to study harder and contribute to the future's diverse development."
Feng Jiawei, a student from the School of Law & Public Administration, stated: "The concert featured a rich and diverse blend of Chinese and Western music, fully showcasing the charm of music, and also allowing us to feel the vigorous development and innovative spirit of the university. The power of music further ignited our passion for personal dreams and academic pursuits. This concert is not only a celebration of the university's education achievements but also a renewed look to the future, inspiring us to grow together with the university and create an even more brilliant tomorrow."
