Academician Chen Xiaohong Holds Talks with Zhan Desheng, General Manager of Huawei Hunan, and Delegation

On the morning of October 31, Xiangjiang Laboratory and Huawei's Hunan headquarters held an exchange forum in the Zhiyuan Lecture Hall of Xiangjiang Building. Chen Xiaohong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Secretary of CPC HUTB Committee, and Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, met with Zhan Desheng, General Manager of Hunan Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. The exchange forum was attended by Liu Guoquan, Executive Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, and Hu Chunhua, Deputy Director of Xiangjiang Laboratory, as well as Zhu Zhuo, General Manager of Huawei's Hunan Government and Enterprise Business, and Luo Bin, Vice President of Huawei's Ascend Computing Division. The meeting also included relevant department heads from Xiangjiang Laboratory, members of its research team, and corresponding department leaders from Huawei's Hunan headquarters.
Academician Chen Xiaohong extended a warm welcome to General Manager Zhan Desheng and his delegation. She emphasized that Xiangjiang Laboratory, as a major scientific and technological initiative of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Hunan Provincial People's Government, is leveraging its role in driving scientific innovation to support Changsha in becoming a global R&D center city and advance Hunan's "Three Highlands" vision and its "4×4" modern industrial system. Noting the strong existing collaboration among Xiangjiang Laboratory, HUTB, and Huawei, Chen expressed hope for further deepening cooperation in areas such as computing resource scheduling and large-scale model innovation. She proposed establishing a scientific and efficient cooperation mechanism to yield more substantive outcomes, contributing to Hunan's "Three Highlands and Four New Missions" blueprint and China's goal of achieving high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.
General Manager Zhan Desheng expressed sincere gratitude to Academician Chen Xiaohong and Xiangjiang Laboratory for their warm reception. He stated that Hunan Province is a key strategic location for Huawei, where the company has established a full industrial chain ecosystem. The province's comprehensive regional innovation capability and sci-tech innovation strength have positioned it in the "first tier" of China's national sci-tech strategy. Zhan emphasized that as a benchmark among Hunan's four major laboratories, Xiangjiang Laboratory has played a leading role in scientific and technological innovation. He expressed hope that the laboratory would further support Huawei's high-quality development, while Huawei would actively contribute to helping Xiangjiang Laboratory become a national strategic sci-tech force. Both parties aim to achieve mutual benefits and common development through deepened collaboration.
Prior to the meeting, the delegation conducted an on-site visit to Xiangjiang Laboratory's achievements exhibition hall, where they viewed the laboratory's promotional video and learned about 26 innovative products as well as applied research outcomes from major projects. The delegation also inspected cutting-edge innovation platforms such as the Embodied Intelligence (Humanoid) Robot Innovation Center and the Intelligent Logistics Laboratory, speaking highly of the laboratory's construction and development accomplishments achieved since its establishment over three years ago.
