HUTB Teacher Win Special Award in 1st Hunan Provincial Teaching Competition for Compulsory Courses on College Student Mental Health Education

On January 18, the final of the 1st Hunan Provincial Teaching Competition for Compulsory Courses on College Student Mental Health Education, hosted by the Education Work Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee and the Department of Education of Hunan Province, and organized by the Hunan Provincial University Student Mental Health Education Innovation Center and the Professional Committee of College Student Mental Health Education of the Hunan Provincial University Ideological and Political Education Research Association, came to a successful conclusion. Dai Ji, a teacher from the College Student Mental Health Education Center of HUTB, was awarded the special award for achieving first place, and our university was honored as an "Outstanding Organizational Unit."
This competition aims to further promote the "Soul-casting Project for New Generation in the New Era," implement the spirit of the Ministry of Education's documents, build a provincial community of mental education in higher education institutions, and continuously improve the quality of mental health education courses. Since its launch in October 2023, a total of 96 universities in the province have carefully selected teachers through campus competitions to participate in the semi-finals, with ultimately 20 teachers advancing to the final round. In the final round, competitors randomly selected any one chapter from the eight chapters of the "College Student Mental Health Education Course" and presented it in a "teaching presentation + teaching demonstration" format on the spot. Participants were required to have a high level of familiarity and overall control of the course content. This competition had a wide participation from universities, with a large number of participating teachers. It is an important and influential teaching event for compulsory courses on mental health education in Hunan Province.
The Academic Affairs Division and Student Affairs Division of HUTB attached great importance to this competition. In accordance with the requirements of the Notice on Holding the 1st Hunan Provincial Teaching Competition for Compulsory Courses on College Student Mental Health Education, they formulated a work plan for the university-level competition and a preparation plan for the provincial-level competition. Throughout the entire process, the teachers from our mental education team devoted a significant amount of time and effort, engaging in multiple rounds of preparation and teaching practice, continuously improving teaching designs, and giving their best efforts. As a result, they achieved the best performance in the competition.
Our university's mental education teaching team will take this opportunity to continue implementing the work philosophy of combining mental education with moral education. We will optimize and enhance the blended teaching model of "online knowledge-based network teaching + offline experiential classroom teaching + on-site practical teaching," further implement the approach of "promoting teaching through training, senior teachers mentoring junior ones, full-time teachers coaching part-time teachers, and driving improvement through competitions" to build a high-level teaching team. We will continue to comprehensively promote the construction of "Double First-class" courses and the integration of ideological and political education into the curriculum, constantly enhancing the depth and breadth of the courses, fully leveraging the role of the classroom as the main channel and platform for mental education.
