On the afternoon of May 21, HUTB held the appointment ceremony for 2026 graduating class alumni liaisons themed “Setting Sail for a New Journey, Staying Connected with Alma Mater” at the Xiangjiang Lecture Hall. Nie Guoqing, a Chief Leader, attended the ceremony. Also present were heads of relevant functional departments, deputy Party secretaries and alumni affairs officers from all secondary schools, alumni representatives, and the newly appointed 2026 graduating class alumni liaisons.

The ceremony was presided over by Xie Xiaoming, Director of the Alumni Office. During the event, Li Jilin, Director of the Student Affairs Division, read out the Decision on Appointing Alumni Affairs Liaisons for the Class of 2026. Attending university leaders then presented official appointment certificates to the liaisons.

Entrusted by Liao Zhikun, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, Chief Leader Nie Guoqing congratulated the 387 appointed graduates and welcomed them to the ranks of alumni affairs workers. He briefed the audience on the university’s alumni network development and operations, emphasizing that alumni are the university’s most valuable asset, a living testament to its academic strength and social reputation, and a reliable force driving its high-quality development. Nie called on the liaisons to actively engage in alumni affairs: serving as emotional bridges between the university and its alumni, acting as ambassadors to promote the university’s reputation, and facilitating resource integration and mutual support platforms. He stressed that their efforts should enable resource sharing, complementary strengths, and mutual empowerment between alumni and the university to achieve common growth.

Li Jingwenshu and Nie Yangkang, representatives of the Class of 2026 liaisons, addressed the assembly. Expressing gratitude for the university’s cultivation and alumni support, they stated that they deeply cherished the honor and recognized the significant responsibility of their new roles. Moving forward, they pledged to actively fulfill their duties, unite alumni strength, and contribute to both alumni development and the university’s growth.

Shu Bin, a 2012 Marketing graduate and Chairman of Hunan Houwen Technology Co., Ltd., shared insights drawn from his entrepreneurial journey. He underscored the profound significance of alumni liaison work, encouraging the new appointees to embrace their roles with passion. He urged them to proactively connect alumni resources, serving both fellow graduates and the university, while simultaneously driving their own careers and the collective endeavors of the broader alumni community toward vigorous growth.

Since 2022, HUTB has selected outstanding graduating students annually to serve as alumni affairs liaisons—a practice now in its fifth consecutive year with 1,575 graduates appointed to date. Appointing class-based alumni liaisons stands as a key university initiative to strengthen ties with alumni, foster a sense of belonging among graduates, and refine the long-term alumni engagement mechanism.
