HUTB Taekwondo Team Achieves Excellent Results in National College Taekwondo Championships

The 2025–2026 National College Taekwondo Championships (Finals), organized by the Federation of Chinese University and School Sports (FUCUSS), was recently held in Nanjing. The tournament drew nearly 3,000 athletes from over 300 universities nationwide, with more than 900 elite competitors from 154 institutions advancing to the finals after intense regional qualifying rounds. Under the leadership of Head Coach Wu Yingguang from the School of Sports and Health, the HUTB Taekwondo Team rose to the challenge with tenacity and drive, securing 2 golds, 2 silvers, and 3 bronzes. The team also claimed the overall women’s team title in Division A with commanding dominance and was honored with the “Sportsmanship Award.”

In individual events, HUTB athletes delivered standout performances: Tan Yuwei and Deng Kai claimed gold in the women’s 48kg and men’s 65kg categories respectively. Shao Sihan and Ge Tiantian earned silver in the women’s 48kg and women’s +70kg divisions, while Liu Jingying, Zhu Jiale, and Deng Xinyu secured bronze in the women’s 50kg, 57kg, and 46kg categories. The entire women’s squad demonstrated exceptional teamwork and grit, topping the Division A overall women’s team standings through consistent performance and collective strength—fully reflecting the university’s high-level athletic competence and vibrant student spirit.

The organizing committee also conferred the “Sportsmanship Award” on HUTB, with Head Coach Wu Yingguang named “Outstanding Coach” and Tan Yuwei recognized as “Outstanding Athlete.” These accolades are a testament to the rigorous training regimen of the coaching team and the relentless dedication of the athletes, and stand as a vivid reflection of the university’s long-standing commitment to athletic development and sports culture.
