HUTB and UWE Jointly Approved for FinTech Master’s Program

2026-05-28

Recently, the Ministry of Education approved HUTB and the University of the West of England (UWE) to jointly deliver a Master of Science in Financial Technology (MSc FinTech) degree program, with the approval number MOE43UK1A20262846N.

The program adopts UWE’s MSc FinTech curriculum, targeting a series of technological innovations such as big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain. It aligns closely with the university’s priority disciplines—such as Big Data Management and Application—that serve national strategic needs in frontier, emerging, and interdisciplinary fields. Combined with the distinctive training features of the university’s Master of Finance (MF) program, the curriculum fully integrates the quality educational resources of both Chinese and British universities. The university delivers two-thirds of the instruction, while UWE is responsible for the remaining one-third.

Founded in 1894, UWE awards doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s degrees. In 2023, it participated in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) assessment organized by the Office for Students (OFS), the UK’s official higher education regulator. The university earned the highest “Gold” rating for “Student Experience” and a “Silver” rating for “Student Outcomes.” In the 2026 Guardian University Guide, it ranked 39th in the UK. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject, its Economics and Computer Information Technology programs are ranked within the top 500 globally.

Following active and meticulous preparatory work by both Chinese and British partners, the program’s operational conditions are now largely in place. It is scheduled to enroll its first cohort of students in 2026. All teaching and educational activities will be carried out in strict accordance with the program’s training plan and instructional schedule as approved by the Ministry of Education.
