After completing their consultations, prospective students and parents also toured and experienced various educational facilities across the three campuses—including classrooms, academies, cafeterias, dormitories, laboratories, sports and cultural venues, and innovation and entrepreneurship spaces—speaking highly of the university’s overall strength. “The university’s superior dormitory conditions, complete campus facilities, and thoughtful consultation services make us feel greatly rewarded,” said the Tan family from Yiyang. “We hope our child can hone professional skills and enhance comprehensive abilities at HUTB, and realize their life value in the future,” said the parent of Student Tang from Yongzhou.

It is learned that HUTB’s 2026 undergraduate enrollment will feature five major changes: First, pathways to postgraduate recommendation and direct PhD admission. With three preeminent disciplines—Engineering, Computer Science, and Social Sciences, General—ranking among the global top 1% of ESI, students have access to postgraduate recommendation and direct PhD admission, providing more avenues for academic advancement. Second, there has been a full expansion of flagship majors. The undergraduate enrollment quota will increase by 200 spots, all allocated within Hunan Province. The university’s total planned enrollment for this year is 7,250, with the in-province quota accounting for nearly 83%. Third, three new majors added: Health Science and Technology, Space Information and Digital Technology, and Information Management and Information Systems (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education). Targeting future technological competition and high-quality industrial development, these programs aim to cultivate interdisciplinary and versatile talents. Fourth, five Academician Excellence Classes and nine Innovation Experiment Classes have been established, covering all advantageous majors. Through customized training combining “major + minor (micro-program),” the university seeks to develop versatile and innovative talents. Fifth, there is an innovation in diversified training models. In 2021, the university took the lead in Hunan Province by offering micro-programs. Based on its strong disciplines, the university has launched 16 popular minor degree programs and 47 cutting-edge micro-programs, all available for optional selection by undergraduate students.
