2026-07-01

On the afternoon of July 1, Hou Junjun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee and President, met with Yvonne Beach, Vice Chancellor of the University of the West of England (UWE), and her delegation at Conference Room 406 of the No. 2 Office Building.

Hou noted that the two universities have complementary strengths and are highly aligned in the field of business education. He pointed out that with frontier technologies like AI advancing rapidly and global demand for FinTech talent growing, the joint MSc FinTech program is both timely and well-positioned. He expressed hope that the two sides will use the program as a bridge to further strengthen faculty exchanges and student mobility, conduct collaborative research focused on the practical development of China’s FinTech sector, and continuously optimize and innovate the curriculum based on research outcomes, thereby creating a virtuous cycle of “research feeding back into teaching.” He also looked forward to expanding cooperation into more areas on this basis.

Yvonne Beach stated that UWE attaches great importance to international cooperation. The jointly run MSc FinTech program, she noted, provides students with an international platform for growth that is closely aligned with cutting-edge FinTech developments and real-world industry demands. She expressed hope that both universities will establish long-term, stable partnerships in scientific research, faculty and student exchanges, and other areas, creating more opportunities for mutual benefit and win-win results.

This visit marks the first official trip to HUTB by a UWE delegation since the joint MSc FinTech program was approved by the Ministry of Education in May this year. It signifies that the program has moved from agreement signing to a new stage of substantive operation, laying a solid foundation for advancing specific tasks such as enrollment promotion, curriculum implementation, and teaching management.
