School of Accounting Holds the Seminar on How to Deal with Telecom Fraud

The Seminar on How to Deal with Telecom Fraud was held by School of Accounting in the Conference Room B401 in the Economic Management Complex on the morning of March 11 with the desire to further prevent the telecom fraud and increase the pertinence and effectiveness, and was presided over by Tan Zhihong, Vice Party Secretary of School and attended by all instructors.

The related fraud cases were sorted out by the instructors and teachers participating in the seminar who focused on the analysis of the forms and methods of telecom fraud and the specific dealing measures. All participants exchanged their views on the telecom frauds they had experienced personally or the cases in which the students were defrauded. The results based on the in-depth discussion showed that the students are the highly potential victims of telecom frauds mainly including the online chat scams, online prize-winning scams, online banking scams, online shopping scams, mobile SMS scams, the frauds through the Trojan websites and phishing websites, the frauds by pretending to be staff of public security organizations, relatives and friends and by fabricating the injuries from car accidents, drug possession in packages. The main reasons for students being defrauded are simple thinking, insufficient awareness of prevention, lack of rationality and making friends online accidentally.
Vice Party Secretary Tan Zhihong called all the instructors of school to adhere to the student-oriented philosophy, carry out the works by guiding the students to be honest, implement "four rejections" in ideological understanding, deal with concrete matters relating to work, and actively instruct the students to establish a correct idea of moral and profit, always remain vigilant and consult with classmates, teachers and parents in case of suspicious situations, and resolutely not trust the words of strangers, reveal their own account passwords or remit money to stranger accounts. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the contact with full-time teachers and parents of studentstobuild an integrated anti-telecom fraud network.
