HUTB Holds the First Teaching Innovation Competition

On January 20, the first teaching innovation competition of HUTB was held in Lezhi Building of main campus. 41 teachers and teams from various teaching units delivered the reports on teaching innovation design at the grand final. 14 experts from inside and outside HUTB were specially invited by the organizing committee to serve as judges in the reporting session. Vice President Liu Guoquan provided the guidance.

As the first competition organized according to the notice of the Ministry of Education, Teaching Innovation Competition is composed of the report on teaching innovation design and the report on curriculum innovation results, of which the former is conducted in two groups: the senior teachers & sub-senior teachers and the intermediate teachers or below. Each participating teacher made a 15min report on the teaching innovation design based on the syllabus and practice results of the relevant curriculum, comprehensively explaining the teaching design ideas of the curriculum, highlighting the teaching innovation and reform and displaying the relevant highlights and supporting materials. After the report, each teacher answered the questions from the expert judges.
The judges scored in terms of teaching philosophy and objectives, teaching content, teaching process and methods, assessment and feedback, etc., and made brilliant comments and provided the valuable constructive suggestions on how to be student-oriented, how to write the teaching goals, how to perform the academic analysis, and how to carry out the teaching innovation. After the competition, the organizing committee will select and recommend the participating teachers and teams to participate in the Teaching Innovation Competition of Hunan Universities based on the evaluation results of the report on teaching innovation design and the report on curriculum innovation results. At the same time, the guidance and training will be given for the problems reflected in the competition, and the entries will be furtherly perfected to improve the level of participants and curriculum construction.
Teaching Innovation Competition is intended to in-depth study and apply the spirits of the National Education Conference and the China’s Education Modernization 2035, fully implement the spirit of the New Era Undergraduate Education Work Conference of National Institutions of Higher Education, insist on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and fulfill the requirement of "undergraduate foremost, four regressions”, enhance the capability of teachers for integrating the modern information technology and education & teaching as well as the teaching innovation ability guided by the construction concept of "Four New" and focusing on teaching innovation, and improve the quality of talent training.
