School of Finance Holds Seminar for Young Teachers to Share Classroom Teaching Competition Experience

On the afternoon of November 20, School of Finance held a seminar themed at “How to Help Young College Teachers Succeed in Integrating Teaching and Scientific”, in Conference Room B601 of Economic Management Complex, for the exchange of classroom teaching competition experience. Dr. Deng Yiwei from Zhejiang Gongshang University, the first prize winner of the national young teacher teaching competition in the liberal arts group, and Dr. Deng Xin from HUTB, the third prize winner of the national young teacher teaching competition in the liberal arts group, were invited to share their competition experience. The newly recruited young teachers of the School of Finance as well as some teachers from other departments attended this seminar. The seminar was presided over by Wen Guirong, Vice Dean of the School of Finance.

 


At the meeting, by focusing on the subject of Price Discovery Function of Futures Market, the content of his award-winning lecture, Dr. Deng Yiwei shared his experience from such aspects as relations and differences between classroom teaching competition and actual classroom teaching, curriculum design, curriculum ideological and political education, review and reflection, and homework. Besides, he gave specific suggestions on how to balance the relationship between teaching and research and how to inspire academic research in classroom teaching. He emphasized that young teachers should prepare for the competition from different professional perspectives. In the meantime, the contestants should take popular cases as clues to deftly integrate reality into theory and then to reflect on the limitations of theory, he added. He noted that instead of making students indulged in formula derivation, the teachers should form a complete closed loop covering all links from theory to market application.

 


Dr. Deng Xin started by introducing the rules of the classroom teaching competition. Basing on her own preparations for this competition, she elaborated on and shared her experience from teaching syllabus, teaching design, classroom teaching, course reflection and other aspects. She mentioned that contestants should keep in mind the concept of “giving a course well” and design classroom teaching in a profound, layered, logic, complete, inspiring, and content-oriented way. She stated that teaching and research are not mutually incompatible but mutually supportive. She added that ideological and political education need to be carried out naturally and unconsciously in classroom teaching to guide students towards correct value and outlook on life on the basis of knowledge and method transmission.

 

Subsequently, the teachers present deeply discussed and exchanged views on relevant issues with the two award winners. The School’s young teachers expressed that through this seminar, they have more deeply understood the classroom teaching competition and gained lots of valuable experience and skills for classroom teaching competition preparations.
