Our Students Win Second Prize of Engineering Cost and Third Prize of Engineering Design Challenge during Final of 9th Building Information Model Application Skills Competition
2018-09-28
The final of National University Students “TH Sware Cup” Building Information Model (BIM) Application Skills Competition was online held by Architectural Education Society of China in southern and northern competition area synchronously on May 26-27, namely, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Tongji University and Shanghai Sanda University. It was the first time for our College of Computer and Information Engineering to send representative team from Engineering Management Major to participate in this competition. As a result, they won second prize of engineering cost and third prize of engineering design challenge. In addition, our participating team also carried out in-depth discussion and shared their thoughts on professional skill competition with excellent students of other universities during this competition.

The network promotion event was started in Nov. 2017, which attracted more than 2,300 teams and 10,000 students to submit their works. After network qualification trials, 453 representative teams which came from 449 universities got to the final, including 365 teams in undergraduate group.
As a key technology of “digital building” (namely, architectural engineering informalization) and revolutionary technology brought by “internet+ building industry”, BIM can play an important role to enhance production efficiency, save costs and shorten the construction period. Therefore, it has got extra attention and promotion in big data era. Since the establishment of “internet+ engineering management” laboratory ahead of other universities in Dec. 2016, our College of Computer and Information Engineering has hammered at BIM technology’s application and practice in undergraduate teaching, scientific research and breakthrough, student innovation & entrepreneurship competition guidance and other aspects, as a result, our students in Engineering Management Major not only have rich theoretical knowledge in architecture, engineering, economics and management, but also keep up with development reform of information technology (especially, BIM technology) in new era. It can be said that these cultivated students are applied senior professionals who hold solid foundation, high comprehensive ability and strong practical ability.
Relying on “internet+engineering management” laboratory, our Engineering Management Major has greatly enhanced its teaching systematicness and applicability in university-enterprise coordination and virtual-reality synthesis manner. Considering that our practical teaching level and students’ practical ability have rapidly increased in recent years, they achieve excellent results and get unanimous praise from experts and peers when they participate in national application skills competition.
