School of International Education Held Teacher Exchange Meeting on Sino-American Cooperation Finance Undergraduate Project

In order to deepen course teachers' knowledge and understanding concerning finance undergraduate project of School of International Education based on Sino-American Cooperation and better realize the target of training internationally senior applied talent through the project, on the afternoon of October 28, School of International Education held exchange meeting regarding finance undergraduate project based on Sino-American Cooperation. Participants included dean of School of International Education - professor Zhang Yangbin and deputy dean - professor Xu Shu, academic directors Peng Ting and Wu Dan and all course teachers who gave lessons to students of finance undergraduate project. Director of Dean's Office Hu Chunhua, deputy director Zhang Hong and Yang Shuigen attended to give instructions. The meeting was presided over by deputy dean Xu Shu.
Firstly, dean Zhang Yangbin introduced the preparation work for this meeting and also gave a comprehensive introduction on finance undergraduate project based on Sino-American Cooperation from respects such as student enrollment and class grouping situation, project curriculum system, project operational features, etc. In terms of feature, he emphatically mentioned student's three-party registration, that is to say the student could gain the certificate of bachelor degree issued by both parties (China and the US) only after registering at HNUC, Frostburg State University and Ministry of Education; There were 17 American courses introduced. 9 American teachers would be designated to our university to give lessons for students. Introduction of these high-quality education resources would bring radiation effect to our university's construction of teaching staff and disciplinary development; Students of the project would go to America for exchange and learning from the next year. Naturally, the English language level became a difficulty during the period of project operation. And how to make students successfully complete English-only professional learning at our university also became a project difficulty. Everyone shall strive to overcome these difficulties, tackle key problems and get over a difficulty together. Dean Zhang summarized project features based on 12 words: High goal, heavy task, many difficulties and big pressure. And he proposed thought and measures for dealing with difficulties. He also pointed out that English was the key issue. Chinese teaching assistants shall be teamed for American teachers who gave lessons at our university. Teachers in charge of teaching affair administration shall well handle contradiction between difficulty and easiness and high and low, and shall grasp big issues and attach importance to small issues, grasp base line and attach importance to long line, grasp the process and attach importance to the result, grasp ability and attach importance to cultivation and adopt the method of guidance, persuasion, pressurization, prohibition and follow-up to well manage students. On this basis, he communicated with course teachers about teaching and assessment of each class and proposed to build scientific and reasonable assessment and evaluation system.
And then, all course teachers conducted exchange and discussion regarding teaching situation, feeling and suggestion from the semester beginning. Doctor Wang Jingtong - calculus teacher proposed to provide tutorship and answer question in the classroom according to the degree of student's grasping knowledge; Teacher Qi Donglian proposed that teachers shall more participate in students' extracurricular quality expansion and character education activities; Teacher Chen Haijun proposed to make use of evening time to tutor computer operating for students; Teacher Xu Honglian proposed to enrich students' problem sets. This fully embodied teachers' spirituality of being hardworking and responsible and concentrating on teaching and student management.
Based on this, deputy director of Dean's Office Yang Shuigen communicated with our School about connection of talent training program and teaching plan; Deputy director Zhang Hong proposed a suggestion on perfecting teaching quality monitoring; Director Hu Chunhua highly affirmed the early work of the project and proposed the following suggestions: increase strength of support for Chinese and American finance teachers and optimize teachers and course scheduling; Provide some motivations for teachers giving lessons for students of the project; Reinforce external exchange and learn advanced experience in management of undergraduate project based on Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools from other colleges and universities. Meantime, director Hu also encouraged teachers to devote and input more effort to make contribution to finance undergraduate project based on Sino-American Cooperation.
Good management framework was built with sufficient consensus reached at this meeting for enhancing knowledge on finance undergraduate project based on Sino-American Cooperation, promoting communication and coordination between teachers and perfecting current project operation and management mechanism. We firmly believed that this project would realize our running-school goal and lay a solid foundation for deep and significant development of our university's school-running based on Sino-foreign cooperation.
