2016-01-19
In the last few days, the theme activity “I love Changsha---Foreign Friends Tours in Changsha” co-hosted by Publicity Department of Changsha municipal Party committee and Foreign Affairs Office of Changsha municipal government came to a successful close. During the closing ceremony, there was a cultural solon themed “Showing Happiness.”

This activity started from October 17th to 30th, which was based on the aim of providing better service to foreigners who are living and visiting Changsha. With “I love Changsha” photography activity as the main line, the whole activity involves four thematic sectors: cultural discovery, modern development, life enjoyment and happiness presentation. It took the forms of visiting, spot activity and communicative exchanges, organizing over 100 foreigners across the world to visit Yuelu Academy, Tongguan historical site, Jinggang ancient town, Changsha municipal library, Changsha Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Zoomlion, Grand Heavy Industry and QinHuangShiFu restaurant. Those foreign friends together witnessed the human landscape and development situation in Changsha.
Our school’s Division of International Exchange and Cooperation organized foreign teachers and students to sign for this activity. While enjoying Changsha’s historical and cultural landscape and visiting multi-national enterprises, they also showcased their own vigor and enthusiasm.

During the activity on October 24th, David Robert Whittall, Business English teacher of our school, wore Chinese-style costume and ate the local Hunan food. According to David, among all the food, his favorite dish is beef hot pot. However, when the stinky tofu was served, he couldn’t help producing his mobile phone, taking picture and sending it to his wife. His students told him that the stinky tofu is a must-eating food in Changsha, and it would satisfy a craving to enjoy the food. (Jing Shuoyu, Office of International Exchanges and Cooperation)
