[REDNET.CN] HNUC: 21 Teachers and Students (Volunteers) Supporting Education in Rural Areas during Summer Vacation for One Month

On August 1, Xiaozhou, the postgraduate who came from HNUC, renewed information in his Circle of Friends.
On July 11, 3 young teachers and 18 postgraduate volunteers of HNUC came to Xingdong Village, Tanxi Town of Xinshao County to carry out social practice activity of "Three into the Country" which was based on supporting education for one month in summer vacation under the deliberation selection and organization of the School League Committee and School's Supporting Brigade in Village. This activity will last for 10 days in August.
According to the studying demands of the local stay-at-home children and parents' suggestions, the volunteers held 7 special education class free of charge, such as music, dance, martial art, Chinese Studies, interesting mathematical, English coaching as well as hand-made and psychological remedial and other classes in Xingjia Wanquan Primary School. More than 150 stay-at-home children in Xingdong Village and other adjacent 8 villages were attracted by the dedicated & professional volunteers and orderly teaching organizational management, including 74 primary and secondary school students who attended the nonlocal schools along with their parents and returned home during summer vacation. Considering that the enrolling students exceeded the capacity of existing desks and chairs of Xingjia Wanquan Primary School, the Party Members Activity Room, Conference Room, Cadres Training Room and other offices of Xingdong Villages were temporarily changed into teaching classrooms.
During that period, the volunteers of HNUC had conducted carpet-visiting for 27 "maternal deprivation children" of Xingdong Village in partitions and fragmentations, by stages and in groups. The foregoing children's mothers suffered from the following conditions, remarry with others in the nonlocal places, run away from home without answer, die because of illness or suffer from accident victims, therefore, they attracted a widespread attention from all sectors of society. After collecting and arranging all information, volunteers established "maternal deprivation children" information base, wrote and submitted the investigation report to the related government departments and School's Supporting Brigade in Village. This laid a solid foundation for effectively and permanently carrying out life support, psychological guidance, interest expansion, academic guidance, career planning and other accurate supporting measures.
In consideration of relatively more stay-at-home women and senior citizens, volunteers carried out public square dance training, interesting sports competition, film school, group callisthenics, literature and art get-together, health education lecture, law propaganda and other public activities in the extracurricular time. They enjoyed tremendous popularity and praise from the local cadres and masses.
As one of the five key projects, which is implemented by Xingdong Village, the counterpart-assistance village of HNUC, the education poverty alleviation project, which is based on supporting education and studying supporting will generate combination blow effects in company with organizational construction, village atmosphere construction, infrastructure construction and industry construction for the sake of promoting the comprehensive construction of well-off village.
