HUTB Holds the Opening Ceremony of the 1st Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence

On the morning of July 5, HUTB held the opening ceremony of the 1st Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence in the lecture hall of the Economic Management Complex. The ceremony was attended by Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and HUTB Party Secretary, Zhang Ling, Vice President of HUTB, and Gan Dejian, Vice President of HUTB, as well as leaders of all the secondary schools, teacher representatives and all the students selected into the 1st Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence. Vice President Zhang Ling presided over the ceremony.
Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and HUTB Party Secretary, said that the purpose of the Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence is to better implement the guiding principles embodied in General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech titled “Build Up the Strength, Quality and Size of China’s Digital Economy”, practice the educational philosophy of the integrated development of “new engineering + new business + new liberal arts” and science, and cultivate more interdisciplinary, integrated high-quality talents that meet the national strategic needs.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong expressed warm congratulations on the opening of the 1st Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence. She pointed out that recent years have witnessed the vigorous development of digital economy around the world and the sustained rapid growth of the size of the digital economy industry, and the proportion of digital economy in China’s GDP exceeded 40% in 2022. She also said that digital economy is rapidly and profoundly transforming the operation mode, management mode and production mode of government and enterprises, and that digital transformation is the irresistible trend of the times. In addition, she shared the application cases of digital technology in epidemic prevention and control and social governance, and stressed the importance and necessity of striving for the global discourse power in digital economy.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong raised three expectations for all the trainees: First, seize the opportunity, study hard, and believe that heaven rewards diligence. She encouraged all the trainees to think about what the State wants and needs, strive to become excellent interdisciplinary and integrated talents, stand at the forefront of science and technology and the new round of industrial and technological changes, seize the new development opportunities of digital economy, break through the bottleneck of critical technologies, and strive to foster core competitiveness in innovation and entrepreneurship. Second, broaden the horizon, and adopt a broad-minded attitude. She encouraged all the trainees to follow the rapidly iterating cutting-edge technologies, cultivate a forward-looking judgement and decision-making abilities, make good use of HUTB’s high-level scientific research platform and quality faculties, and improve the interdisciplinary integration ability. Third, focus on fostering imagination, curiosity and critical thinking. She encouraged all the trainees to dare to challenge the authority, be self-confident, serve the society, believe in that “genuine knowledge comes from practice and heroes come from youngsters”, and enhance the thinking and problem-solving abilities. At last, she wished all the students to live up to the expectations of teachers, HUTB and the State, dare to explore and assume responsibilities, and make contributions to achieving high-level self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology.
Fang Xiaoping, a teacher from the School of Science, and Tang Bochen, a trainee from the advanced class, delivered speeches as the teacher representative and the student representative, respectively. Fang Xiaoping said that she will dedicate her passions to the teaching work of the training camp, conduct self-improvement through continued study, enable students to improve the digital technological level, and practice the mission and responsibility as a teacher and educator. She wished all the participants to actively think in the study, learn from the study, and come back with fruitful results. Tang Bochen said that he will maintain a cautious attitude, sharp intuition and forward-looking research consciousness, learn widely from others' strong points, stay innovative, be diligent in thinking, study hard, and strive to become an innovative, high-quality talent with both ability and political integrity.
To deeply implement the spirit of the Ministry of Education’s document on implementing the strategic plan of education digitalization, earnestly advance the construction of the “Excellent Education” program, promote the cultivation of innovative, interdisciplinary, integrated talents, and improve the “Digital Intelligence” analytical technical level of undergraduates, the HUTB decided to select excellent students to participate in the Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence. Under the guidance of Chen Xiaohong, CAE Academician and HUTB Party Secretary, the HUTB Party Committee issued the implementation plan on April 11. All the secondary schools actively implemented the plan, elaborately organized relevant activities, and established a team of quality teachers. More than 400 eligible students signed up for the program. Through the comprehensive evaluation of the comprehensive grade points and interview results of applicants, as well as selective admission and classified training, HUTB selected 196 students to participate in the 1st Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence, including a beginner class of 125 students, an intermediate class of 40 students and an advanced class of 31 students. Upon obtaining the credit points as specified in the training program and passing the graduation assessment, students will be granted the completion certificate of the Technical Training Camp for Talents Proficient with Digital Intelligence.
