[Lectures for Cadres] HUTB Holds Third Training Section of “Lectures for Cadres”

On the afternoon of Dec 22, HUTB held the third training section of “Lectures for Cadres” in the report hall of Economic Management Complex. All the university leaders and Party Committee members, including Chen Xiaohong, HUTB Secretary and CAE Academician, Huangxin, HUTB Vice Secretary and President, Xiao Xiaoqin, HUTB Vice Secretary, were present. Five academicians, namely, Ouyang Xiaoping, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Deputy Director of Energy and Mining Engineering Division of CAE, Lu Chunfang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Chairman of China Railway Society, Fan Guobin, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and former Deputy Chief Engineer of China Academy of Engineering Physics, Liu He, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and former Deputy Chief Engineer of Sinopec Petroleum Exploration and Production Research Institute, and Yang Hong, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and researcher of Institute of Spacecraft System Engineering, China Academy of Space Technology, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, offered the special training themed with “technology and innovation” for the faculty and staff of HUTB. Cadres above vice section level, Party branch secretary, department heads, office directors, tutors and new teachers attended the training. The opening ceremony was presided over by Xiao Xiaoqin.

In the opening ceremony, Academician Chen Xiaohong, on behalf of HUTB Party Committee Office, extended cordial welcome to Academician Ouyang Xiaoping, Academician Lu Chunfang, Academician Fan Guobin, Academician Liu He and Academician Yang Hong for their special training, and also heartfelt thanks to them for their long-term care for and support of HUTB. She pointed out that the “Lectures for Cadres” training is aimed to improve HUTB cadres’ comprehensive quality in an all-round way, and the theme of the third training class is “technology and innovation”. She stressed that technology innovation is at the core of improving China’s comprehensive national power and the development direction of the educational undertaking, and all the cadre staff should actively learn technology innovation knowledge, constantly improve their technology innovation literacy, keep abreast of the development paces of the new era, and promote HUTB to realize new leap-forward development.

Then, Academician Chen Xiaohong presided over the training section, and five academicians gave respective special training lectures one by one.

Academician Ouyang Xiaoping, centering on the following four aspects of “core status of innovation”, “motivation and essential connotation of innovation”, “elements and routes of innovation”, and “Cases of leading key technological innovation”, shared his opinions on “how to identify and overcome leading core and key technologies of the innovation system”. He, through analyzing the application of liquid oligomer monoatomic Graphene, nano glomerocryst and monocrystal diamond, efficient production of hydrogen by biomass electrolysis, low-temperature and high-efficiency power generation, and other technology innovation technologies, guided the participants to exploit new technology innovation ideas, improve the technology innovation capacities and grasp new technology innovation opportunities.

Academician Lu Chunfang, with the theme of “innovative practice of Fuxinghao High-speed Train”, set forth the innovative practice of “Fuxinghao High-speed Train” from the four aspects of “development history of high-speed trains and China’s demands”, “nationwide innovation”, “fruitful innovation achievements”, and “remarkable innovation benefit”. He expressed that “Fuxinghao” High-speed Train symbolizes that China has achieved all-round independence, standardization and serialization of high-speed railway technologies, substantially strengthened China’s international right of speech and core competitiveness, and successfully transformed China into a world leader of high-speed railway technologies from a follower of world standards and then a setter of world standards.

Academician Fan Guobin, focusing on the theme of “technology innovation and competition”, teased out the historical process of world technology innovation and competition, and made in-depth analysis and study on the competitive situations in the field of current world technology innovation through relevant classical cases. He presented that under the increasingly complicated and perplexingly changing international context, we must further firm our determination, face up to challenges and obstacles, expedite the promotion and implementation of all-round and independent controllability, strengthen our technology innovation abilities, constantly enhance our comprehensive national power, and make our due contributions to the Chinese Dream of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Academician Liu He, with the theme of “study on and challenge from energy development trends under the constraints of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals”, made analysis and interpretation from the three aspects of “carbon emission trend and energy consumption forecast of China”, “major challenges to realize ‘carbon neutrality’”, and “paths of building a Pioneering Demonstration Zone for regional ‘carbon neutrality’”. He believes that “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality” are not only effective ways of propelling the energy revolution and promoting human civilization, but also the strategic objectives of China’s socioeconomic development, as they will generate new development patterns and realize the win-win results and sustainable development of economics, energy, environment and climate.

Academician Yang Hong gave a lecture on “Our journey is the universe of stars”. He shared his experiences from the four aspects of “development history of world manned spacecrafts”, “development strategies of China’s manned spaceflight”, “discussion on application directions of China’s space station”, and “aspirations of aerospace personnel”, and vividly explained the Spirit of "Two Bombs and One Satellite" and the Spirit of China’s Manned Space Program, and also the Shenzhou Culture of “the motherland interests first; achieving new sci-tech progress; zero defect, zero fault, zero doubt; partnership”. He also expressed that aerospace personnel should “face up to any gaps, stay clear-minded, and start from the very beginning; and depend on strength as success is the absolute principle”.

The “Lectures for Cadres” training is an important measure to implement “Establishing Better Work Style, Changing Study Style, Improving Quality and Seeking Innovation” proposed by HUTB Party Committee Office, and is aimed to insist on “promote study through lecture, thinking through study, and practice through study”, stimulate the faculty and staff to be passionate about doing something practical and achieve higher, and drive HUTB towards a new journey. Till now, the “Lectures for Cadres” training has been successfully held for three times with 15 academicians, government administers and well-known entrepreneurs invited to give special training, and plays an important role to enhancing the comprehensive quality of the faculty and staff and boost their cohesion for doing something practical and solid.
