HUTB Holds the Opening Ceremony of the First Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents

On the afternoon of November 29, the opening ceremony of the first undergraduate outstanding innovative talents was held in the lecture hall of the Economic Management Complex, attended by Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, and Vice President Zhang Ling, participated in by the principal leaders, academic tutors of schools and students selected for the first "Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents", and presided over by Vice President Zhang Ling.
Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician pointed out in her speech that standing at the historical intersection of the "two centenary goals", the Party and the state have made important arrangements for in-depth implementation of the strategy of strengthening the country with talents in the new era, the strategy of innovation-driven development, and accelerating the construction of an important talent center and innovation highland in the world. According to the strategic goal of "Three Upgrades and Three Highlands" formulated by the Party Committee, HUTB, which pursues excellence and moves towards first-class, will make efforts to cultivate more high-quality talents with global vision, feelings of home and country, professionalism and benevolence. To this end, HUTB officially launched the " Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents ".
Secretary Chen Xiaohong congratulated the students who were selected for the first "Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents", and sent three hopes: First, aim for the highest and climb the peak bravely. We shall be mindful of the "two overall situations" and the "important thing for the country", and consciously shoulder the important task of ideological innovation, theoretical innovation, technological innovation and cultural innovation. Second, pursue the excellence, innovate and forge ahead. We shall strictly demand ourselves with the standards of pursuing excellence and catching up with first-class, base ourselves on China, look at the world, keep a close eye on the major strategic needs of the country, pay attention to the international academic frontier trends, care about overall issues and global challenges, and be unwilling to be mediocre and dare to be the first on the road of innovation and exploration. Third, accumulate the broad views and pragmatic accumulation. We shall study hard, be diligent and enterprising, be good at thinking, dare to question, be diligent in creating, and even find another way to win by surprise, solve new problems in interdisciplinary cross-integration, enhance humanistic cultivation and create scientific spirit.
Secretary Chen Xiaohong put forward work requirements for schools, all academic tutors and relevant functional departments. She stressed that all schools shall attach great importance to the training of outstanding innovative talents in undergraduate courses, establish new ideas and new thinking, innovate working methods, consolidate the foundation of disciplines and specialties, integrate superior educational resources, focus on training top-notch innovative talents in basic disciplines and frontier interdisciplinary disciplines, and take this opportunity to actively apply for national first-class majors. All academic tutors shall implement one-on-one and face-to-face individual counseling, encourage students to learn by themselves, think independently, learn by analogy and develop in an all-round way, and work with each student to formulate a personalized innovative talent training plan. Relevant functional departments shall further strengthen the construction of study style and teaching style, improve the teaching system, enhance teachers' ability, promote the transformation of teaching management concept to education service, and escort the growth of outstanding innovative talents in undergraduate courses.
Xie Xiaoliang, Dean of the College of Science, Chen Wang, Vice Dean of the School of Art & Design, and Zhao Yuhan, a student from Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies, spoke on behalf of schools, teachers and students respectively. Dean Xie Xiaoliang said that Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician once put forward a new concept of digital transformation of "cross-discipline and cross-border integration of industries", and cross-discipline integration will help to achieve great results. The "Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents" of HUTB embodies the advanced education concept, and under the guarantee of high-quality education resources, it will surely achieve fruitful results. Vice President Chen Wang said that in today's ever-changing science and technology, teachers shall study with their classmates for life, learn and master the cutting-edge knowledge of science and technology in time, forge ahead and keep forging ahead, become the strong backing of students, and provide more comprehensive and professional academic guidance. On behalf of the students selected for the "Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents", Zhao Yuhan expressed sincere gratitude to Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician, and said that she would strive to grow into innovative outstanding talents and continuously improve her academic ability and innovative ability.
It is reported that according to the spirit of the Report on the Work of the Party Committee of the First Party Congress of HUTB and the requirements of the "Excellent Education" project, HUTB promoted the training of outstanding and innovative talents, and decided to select a group of outstanding students from the sophomores to participate in the " Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents”. Party Committee attached great importance to it, and Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and CAE Academician personally planned and promoted it, and officially issued the implementation plan on October 20 this year. Each school shall earnestly implement and actively promote, and formulate the personalized implementation rules and training programs; the majority of students actively participated, and more than 600 outstanding students enthusiastically signed up. By assessing the comprehensive grade points and interview results of the registered students, HUTB finally selected 330 students into the first "Training Program of Undergraduate Outstanding Innovative Talents", and 166 tutors participated in academic guidance.
