Innovate the Talent Training Mode and Create First-class Undergraduate Education
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, HUTB adhered to the fundamental task of cultivating people by virtue, put undergraduate education in the core position of personnel training, the basic position of education and teaching, and the frontier position of educational development, insisted on the connotative development path, comprehensively deepened the reform of undergraduate education, successively formulated the Three-year Action Plan for Undergraduate Teaching Construction and Reform (2015-2017), 13th Five-Year Plan for Education Development, Three-year Action Plan for First-class Undergraduate Education (2019-2021), Guiding Opinions on Compiling the 2019 Version of Scientific Talents Training Program and other document systems, constantly promoted the undergraduate education innovation of ideas, concepts, methods and models, and achieved remarkable results in the construction of first-class undergraduate education.
Highlight the core and strengthen professional construction
HUTB changed the ideas, planed the layout of disciplines and specialties with innovative thinking, properly conducted the top-level design, actively carried out digital, intelligent and green transformation, promoted the implementation with innovation, sought the innovation and change, and found another way to promote the construction of undergraduate specialties to move forward. HUTB has issued the interim measures for dynamic adjustment of undergraduate enrollment, and established a dynamic adjustment mechanism for undergraduate enrollment. In recent years, 13 undergraduate majors have been added, including the Financial Mathematics, Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Clothing and Apparel Design, Music Performance, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Intelligence Science and Technology, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Physics, Supply Chain Management, Human Geography and Urban and Rural Planning, Financial Technology, Resources and Environmental Science, and three majors, such as Cultural Industry Management, Editing and Publishing, and Public Utilities Management, have been abolished. By the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, there were 55 undergraduate majors in HUTB.
HUTB promoted the cross-integration development in major setting according to the development needs of new technologies, new industries, new formats and new models, realize the characteristic and differentiated development, advanced the high-quality development of undergraduate education with new intersections and growth points, and accelerated the training of outstanding talents urgently needed by the country, society, regions and enterprises. On the basis of the existing majors with characteristics and advantages, the cross-integration and construction and upgrading of majors have been promoted, and a number of first-class majors facing the future needs, leading development, and with advanced concepts and strong guarantees have been formed to construct a three-level first-class major construction system at the national, provincial and university levels. Since the implementation of the "Double Ten Thousand Plan", ten majors of HUTB have been selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, twenty majors have been selected as provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors. Up to now, there are 30 provincial-level and above first-class undergraduate majors, accounting for 57% of the total number of majors (excluding two Sino-foreign cooperative education programs), forming a talent training pattern focusing on economics, management and engineering, with equal emphasis on literature, science, law and art.



Grasp the key and build a first-class undergraduate course
Focusing on the talent training goal of "thick foundation and wide caliber", HUTB has organized the preparation of the 2016 and 2019 versions of the talent training programs, optimized the proportional structure of general courses, subject common courses, professional courses and practical teaching, and strengthened the overall design guidance of the curriculum system; new courses, international courses, frontier courses, innovation and entrepreneurship courses and integrated courses of production and education that meet the needs of economic and social development were added to satisfy the diversified choices by students. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the number of provincial and above undergraduate teaching programs established by HUTB was in the first phalanx of local universities in the province: 3 courses were recognized as the first batch of national first-class undergraduate courses, 48 courses as provincial first-class undergraduate courses, and 20 courses as practical research programs of ideological and political reform of provincial courses.



Go hand in hand and innovate the talent training mode
In order to satisfy the outstanding talent training plan of the Ministry of Education and promote the structural reform of the supply side of talent training, HUTB and enterprises jointly built the modern industrial college, set up outstanding classes for academicians, and issued the Guiding Opinions on Implementing the Excellent Talent Training Plan in HUTB. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, HUTB set up nine excellent classes for academicians, including Intelligent Management, Digital Economy, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, and Media Integration. HUTB has established a credit system management system based on the elective system, with credit measurement system and credit grade point system as the core, flexible academic system, credit mutual recognition system and academic tutorial system as the basic contents, so as to promote the autonomous learning and personalized development of students. In order to promote the organic integration of knowledge in different fields and provide a new way for personnel training in HUTB, the bachelor degree education of minors has been set up. At present, 210 people have obtained major and minor bachelor's degree certificates. HUTB encouraged schools to build diversified talent training modes such as "1 + X" and "2 + X" according to different majors.

Increase investment to significantly improve the teaching conditions
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, HUTB received 84 million yuan of special funds from the central government to support the development of local universities, invested 172.2163 million yuan to build a new economic and management experimental training complex, more than 30 new practical teaching platforms, 49 new smart classrooms, more than 12,000 m2 of innovation and entrepreneurship incubation practice bases such as Maker Academy and Creative Workshop and experimental training practice bases with complete systems, of which the more than 10 laboratories (bases) such as New Retail Virtual Reality Technology Laboratory have been identified as provincial experimental training practice platforms, and "Smart Supply Chain Operation Simulation" has been identified as one of national virtual simulation projects. In addition, HUTB cooperated with nearly 200 governments, enterprises and institutions such as Xiangjiang New District (the first national new district in central China), Yuelu District and Dahan Group.

Careful cultivation with gratifying achievements in education and teaching
In the past five years, a total of 235 provincial teaching and research reform projects have been established, including 155 provincial teaching reform research projects, 30 provincial curriculum ideological and political construction research projects, 2 new engineering research and reform practice projects, 1 key project of the Ministry of Education in the 13th Five-Year Plan of National Educational Science, 1 major consultation project of provincial educational science planning, 6 key projects, 27 general funded (including youth projects) projects and 13 general projects; and 164 teaching and research projects at university level were established; HUTB won one first prize, one second prize and one third prize respectively in the 4th Hunan Provincial Outstanding Achievement Award for Educational Science Research, achieving a breakthrough of zero first prize and second prize, and entering the top four in the province. In 2018, HUTB won the second prize of national teaching achievement, achieving a breakthrough of zero national teaching achievement prize. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, HUTB won 4 provincial first prizes, 4 second prizes and 10 third prizes in the provincial education and teaching achievement prize selection.

With a multi-pronged approach, the teaching skills of teachers have improved significantly
In order to improve the teaching ability of young and middle-aged teachers, HUTB has carried out training for improving teaching ability of young and middle-aged teachers and classroom teaching observation activities for many times, encouraging teachers to "promote teaching by competition", "promote learning by competition", "promote thinking by competition" and "promote reform by competition". In order to strengthen the construction of teaching staff and actively learn from the good experiences and practices of cross-integration of disciplines and specialties in top universities, we shall train the best teachers and impart the best knowledge to the best students by organizing teachers to study on the spot in enterprises, exercise in the front line and participate in high-level academic salons. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, teachers participated in classroom teaching competitions at or above the provincial level and won 1 national third prize, achieving a breakthrough of zero national teaching competition awards; 7 first prizes, 9 second prizes and 11 third prizes in provincial classroom teaching competitions. Teachers participated in teaching competitions such as informationization, ideological and political education, physical education classroom and micro-class at or above the provincial level, and won 9 first prizes, 11 second prizes and 14 third prizes at the provincial level. HUTB was awarded the title of "Excellent Organization Award" three times; the first "Principal Teaching Award" commended a group of outstanding teachers who have made outstanding achievements in undergraduate education, and further guided and stimulated the enthusiasm for teaching.

Continuously improve and perfect the student-centered quality system
Focusing on the goal of personnel training, HUTB actively improved the quality standards of main teaching links, and successively issued more than 50 teaching management system documents such as strengthening the construction of teaching style and study style and reforming teaching contents and methods, forming a complete standard system of undergraduate teaching quality. By means of information technology, we shall establish a comprehensive and objective database for evaluating the teaching quality, properly conduct the quality monitoring, and collect and analyze the evaluation information. In addition, we shall improve the "closed loop" mechanism of evaluation-feedback-improvement, highlight the concept of "student-centered, output-oriented and continuous improvement", and internalize "stressing quality and pursuing Excellence" into the universal value pursuit of all teachers and teaching administrators.
Significant results have been achieved and the quality of personnel training has continued to improve
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, students participated in learning and innovation activities at or above the provincial level, and won 114 national awards and 611 provincial awards in discipline competitions. 199 research-based learning and innovative experimental projects for college students have been funded by the provincial level or above, of which 71 projects have been funded by the Ministry of Education. Employers were highly satisfied with graduates, and students were eager to start their own businesses. During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the average employment rate of graduates was over 95%. The follow-up survey of graduates in 2020 showed that employers' satisfaction with the comprehensive evaluation of graduates of HUTB was close to 95%. In recent three years, the number of graduates starting their own businesses exceeded 30%, and the participation rate of innovation and entrepreneurship (including the two major events of innovation and entrepreneurship) reached 22.1%. The audit and evaluation of undergraduate education in HUTB have been completed with high quality, and the expert group has fully affirmed and highly appraised all aspects of undergraduate education in HUTB.

Leading innovation and entrepreneurship education form a demonstration effect
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, HUTB has been rated as an application-oriented undergraduate university in the national integration of production and education development project, the first batch of top 100 "model universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform" in China, the national university practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base, the national top 50 universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship, and the national maker space. In 2018, the achievement "Exploration and Practice of Building Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Platform in Local Business Colleges" led by Academician Chen Xiaohong won the second prize of national teaching achievement. HUTB's innovation and entrepreneurship education has been reported by the central media and provincial and ministerial authoritative media for many times. The leaders of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and provinces and cities have visited HUTB for many times, and hundreds of peer experts from brother universities have come to HUTB for exchange and investigation.
