[Power of Role Model] Jiang Zhengfu: 12 Years after Retirement of An Old Member of the Communist Party

The CPC has traveled a glorious journey since its founding a century ago, and now it sets sail on a new journey of the era. In order to implement the "Leading Force of Party Building" project of the CPC HUTB Committee and give full play to the demonstration and leading role of outstanding Party members and advanced grass-root Party organizations, HUTB has set up a column named "Power of Role Model" on the news website. The column focuses on reports of outstanding Party members and advanced grass-root Party organizations that are engaged in teaching, scientific research and management services. The eighth edition of the column tells the story of Jiang Zhengfu, who bears a glorious 50-year Party membership.
Jiang Zhengfu joined the party in 1970. During his tenure, he was rated as an "excellent teacher" in Hunan Province, and the "Excellent Member of the Communist Party”, "Excellent Party Affairs Worker" and "Advanced Worker" of HUTB for many times. After he retired in 2010, many private universities and alumni enterprises sent him job offer, but he finally chose to care for the next generation and served as the deputy director of the Next Generation Working Committee of HUTB for 12 years.
Care for students and help them grow
On holidays when people were immersed in the joy of reuniting with their families, Comrade Jiang Zhengfu often visited students in hospitals. In order to help students with psychological problems, he tried every means to find low-cost rental houses and jobs for their families near the campus, so that parents can take care of their children and relieve their financial pressure. All the students he helped graduated smoothly, and some even passed the postgraduate examination.
Jiang Zhengfu always does his utmost to help the students whose families are particularly difficult. In 2015, student Liu from the School of Art & Design funded by the Next Generation Working Committee of HUTB, quitted schooling and returned the hometown in Fuquan City, Guizhou Province for treating an illness, and was out of touch for a while. Jiang Zhengfu couldn't help worrying, and went to the student's home to understand the situation, and he learned that three generations of this student lived in relatives' house only on her father's meager income from helping people repair motors. Because there was no money for ill treatment, the student's illness was worsened. On the spot, he gave all the balance to the student, contacted the local city and town governments to help solve the problem of subsistence allowances and relief, contacted Xiangya Hospital to arrange hospitalization, and contacted the school where the student studied in for help. After many efforts, the Fuquan Civil Affairs Bureau, Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and Machangping Town where the student was located immediately sent RMB 13,000 yuan of solatium and handled the procedures of subsistence allowances; Xiangya Hospital quickly arranged for the student to be hospitalized and contacted the resident charity to connect with his family; teachers and students of the School of Design & Art raised more than RMB 80,000 yuan to pay the medical expenses; even the owner of the accompanying room rented by the student's family next to the hospital decided to rent it at half price with his efforts.
Some disabled students, with the help of him and the school, not only maintain firm in spirit, but also join the Party and become typical model of outstanding students in the province; he has helped some students for four years, and even searched for the job for them; even students who have graduated for many years, once they have difficulties, he always tries his best to help them.
Devote all efforts for the theme education
For the theme education of the Party every year, Jiang Zhengfu always drafts the implementation plan by himself, gives lectures to students and guides students to create works. He has instructed more than 200 students to participate in school-level and provincial-level theme education creation competitions, and 23 students have won the rewards of theme education activities sponsored by the Education Committee of CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, of which four won the first prize of essay writing, four won the second prize, one won the third prize and one won the winning prize; five won the second prize of speech and seven won the third prize; one won the third prize of short video.
Serve the center and expand the platform
In November 2016, HUTB handed over the supervision of campus civilization construction to the Next Generation Working Committee, Jiang Zhengfu proposed to raise the supervision to the height of environmental education, assisted the responsible leaders to formulate a series of rules and regulations from top-level design to the concrete implementation, and organized the old comrades of Next Generation Working Committee to serve as inspectors. He was personally involved, dared to manage, and worked without holidays, and sometimes even worked all over the campus at night. In the rainstorm weather, when others run home, he runs out to check the potential safety hazards on campus. He actively promotes the construction of campus civilization. With the joint efforts of various functional departments of HUTB, the uncivilized behaviors such as scribbling on desks, littering, disorderly and bad habits and parking vehicles in wrong places were significantly reduced. The clean and orderly campus environment has become a new business card of HUTB.
Serve as a role model and set up a fund
Jiang Zhengfu's retirement salary is not high. Over the years, he not only volunteered to carry out related work, but also donated his social part-time income to the Next Generation Working Committee. Under his influence, many veteran comrades participated in the donation, raising more than RMB600,000 in total, and set up a helping fund for extremely poor students and a campus risk fund. In 2016, he also donated RMB10,000 awarded by the Teacher Award Fund set up by alumni to HUTB, contributing to the development of HUTB.
With the joint efforts by him and the old comrades of the Next Generation Working Committee, the Next Generation Working Committee of HUTB was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective of Care for the Next Generation in the Education System of the Province" by the Hunan Department of Education. In 2013, Hunan Department of Education concluded that it was rated as "excellent". Every year, HUTB was awarded the "Excellent Organization Award" for the theme education activities by Next Generation Working Committee of Hunan Department of Education, and in 2020, it was also awarded the "Excellent Organization Award" by the Next Generation Working Committee of Ministry of Education. In 2013, he was also rated as an "Advanced Individual for Next Generation Work" in Hunan Province. In 2016, he was awarded by the "Thanksgiving Excellent Teacher Fund" of HUTB, and from 2019 to 2020, he was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award" by Department of Education of HunanProvince, such as "Understanding China", "Thanksgiving for Good" and "Seventy Years of Brilliance". In 2021, he was recommended by Department of Education of HunanProvinceto participate in the "Advanced Individual" selection by the Ministry of Education.
