Focusing on providing high-quality and efficient services is one of the key tasks of the "Doing Practical Work for Faculty and Students” campaign. We can only promote in-depth and concrete Party history study and education by enhancing service consciousness, changing the working style, providing convenient and efficient services for faculty, students and staff, and take concrete steps to do practical work and solve problems. Since the launch of the Party history study and education campaign, all functional divisions have taken active measures and made bold innovative changes under the leadership of the CPC Committee of the university. A series of concrete measures that are in line with the interests of the masses have been launched, which have achieved good results and been widely praised by faculty and students.

With the continuous improvement of the university's operation, the needs of faculty and students for administrative services have become further personalized and diversified, which requires better, more accurately targeted experience in the services and facilities. Therefore, the university has adopted various measures to ensure the freedom of speech, so that the voices of the faculty and students can be heard, and their reasonable suggestions can be quickly adopted and fulfilled in time.

HUTB has held a series of symposiums during which the university leaders had face-to-face talks with students, faculty and young teachers respectively. HUTB Party Secretary and Academician Chen Xiaohong and other university leaders held long face-to-face talks with faculty and students in which they discussed plans for the university. The university leaders also took suggestions and promised to take immediate actions to make exact ratifications.

 

The university has opened a 24-hour campus service hotline to receive calls and letters from faculty and students. It covers a number of service platforms, including the telephone switchboard hotline, secretary and president's mailbox on the HUTB official website, university leaders' mailbox of WeChat HUTB official account, university leaders' mailbox of "HUTB Student Work Online" WeChat official account, university leaders' mailbox of "Perfect Campus" mobile app, university leaders' mailbox of HUTB e-bank app and the consultation platform of Education Sunshine Service Hall. The services provided include report acceptance, services for individual registration and ID card, water and electricity IC card recharge, water and electricity maintenance, student affairs, suspension, reentry and withdrawal procedures, dormitory services and other related services.

 

Since the beginning of this year, the telephone platform of Education Sunshine Service Center has answered 403 calls, the entity platform has received 348 visits, the online platform has received 686 visits, and 3,624 matters have been handled by resident divisions, involving teaching management, campus management, rights and interests of faculty and students, infrastructure, campus safety, campus network, student dormitory, canteen and other matters. The completion rate of the cases is 100%, and the faculty and students satisfaction rate stands at 99.8%. 283 letters sent to university leaders' mailboxes and 3 letters transferred from provincial offices have been handled.

 

Boost Morale|Commend, Condole, Contribute

 

It is the fine tradition and political advantage of the CPC to pay visits and carry out condolence activities at major festivals. The university visits, sends condolences and conveys the concern of the Party organization to those in need, and praise them for their contributions to the cause of the Party, while actively helping them solve practical problems. Through targeted help, the university makes sure that every trifle is taken care of, and every concrete action has achieved positive results.

At the gala celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, presented memorial medals for 50-year Party membership to 10 representatives of senior Party members, and extended cordial greetings and heartfelt thanks to the seniors and Party members of the university. She called on all faculty members and students to sincerely care for and serve the senior staff and Party members, and solve their urgent needs and meet their expectations wholeheartedly. On the eve of July 1, leaders of HUTB paid visits to student Party members and faculty and staff Party members with difficulties in life. The university’s leaders called on everyone to maintain healthy mentality, remain confident in life, overcome temporary difficulties, set an example of perseverance, and be a positive model for their family and colleagues, and continue to play the exemplary and vanguard role of Party members at work. At the same time, relevant units are required to further grasp the details of the living difficulties that are facing the Party members, closely follow up their conditions, and give them continuous care and assistance.

 

At the commendation ceremony on July 1, HUTB issued certificates and bonuses worth more than 200,000 yuan, and provided condolence payments worth nearly 100,000 yuan to faculty and student Party members with living difficulties. The payments were made in collective and separate ways. Party members who had won provincial or higher-level honors in the past three years were awarded nearly 50,000 yuan, members bearing five decades of Party membership were awarded nearly 50,000 yuan.

 

In the afternoon of September 10, which marked the 37th Teachers' Day, a Teachers' Day symposium was held in Conference Room 206 of Technology Building. At the event, the university offered the most sincere holiday greetings to the teachers who worked hard and devoted themselves to education. Ten teachers were awarded the "Honorary Teachers with 30 Years of Teaching.” Academician Chen Xiaohong, Secretary of the CPC HUTB Committee, took a cordial photo with each of the winners. She said that she hoped all faculty members will be teachers in the new era who preach, teach and dispel doubts. She also called on all faculty members to fulfill their mission, devote themselves to educating people, be a good teacher with "four habits", and make greater contributions to the university's realization of "three advances and three highs" and the building of an innovative first-class university of technology and business with distinctive characteristics.

 

Relieve People’s Burdens|Every Branch and Leave Matters

 

Whether the service is good or not depends on its effect. Faced with the new requirements of development, all departments of HUTB are making wholehearted efforts to solve urgent, difficult and worrisome problem by starting with the trivial matters. By adopting multiple approaches, the university improves the micro services that give teachers and students more benefits. The Party Committee Office and Principal Office and other departments are actively carrying out services and building a first-inquiry responsibility system, which requires staff to offer a warmly reception to university leaders, teachers and students who visit with suggestions or needs. An "one visit only" service has been carried out to make sure that the demands of faculty and students are taken care of during one single visit by actively adjusting the timetable based on the arrangements of university work and activities.

 

The Academic Affairs Division has set up a QQ group of "Academic Assistance" to provide consultation and services for students who receive academic warnings, and achieved remarkable results. The A-level warning rate has dropped significantly, and the number of dropouts due to academic problems has greatly decreased. It also implemented online audit of student credit identification, sparing the procedures of paper credit identification and face-to-face signature. A student self-service system has been introduced to provide printing services. Students can print Chinese and English transcripts, reading certificates, graduation certificates and degree certificates by using this 24-hour service. A meticulous course arrangement and examination service has been provided for all faculty members to meet as many individual needs as possible. Exam invigilators are offered services such as optimized examination arrangements and examination paper collection by buildings.

 

In September 2019, the Finance Division opened an online booking self-service reimbursement system. After filling in the reimbursement information, those who want to submit a reimbursement sheet only need to deliver the original documents to the online reimbursement delivery box, instead of having to queue up in the financial reimbursement hall. The online system and delivery box are open 24 hours a day for faculty and staff to deliver at any time, which significantly improves the efficiency. In 2021, the Finance Division opened its own WeChat official account, which provides services such as tuition payment, income inquiry and online reimbursement progress notification. Nearly 20,000 people are following the account and using its services.

 

During the summer break, the Assets Management Division cleaned the air conditioners and insulation barrels in the classrooms, reading rooms and study rooms in the three teaching buildings. It emptied 55 sets of turnover rooms in 23 buildings for faculty and staff, and transformed them into dormitories equipped with furniture, hot water pipes and air conditioners. All the work was finished in a very short period of time. The division also installed 58 air conditioners in the teaching building on the north campus, and replaced classroom curtains to provide students with a more comfortable learning environment.

 

The publicity department actively planned to recommend students to major TV stations and newspaper groups for professional internships to improve their professional skills. The Communist Youth League of HUTB actively collected and strictly screened legal and feasible part-time jobs in and around the school. This year, it has released information of about 150 part-time jobs, providing hundreds of students with part-time job opportunities. Nearly 1,200 online and offline lost and found notices were handled, benefiting more than 1,500 people.

 

The Security Division, Student Affairs Division and other divisions jointly promoted the installation of anti-fraud mobile apps among faculty and students. By using the online platform, freshmen took lessons and exams focusing on anti-fraud before the semester began, which played an active role in protecting property safety of faculty and students. During the back-to-school season this year, the number of telecom fraud cases in the university decreased by more than 93% compared with that of 2020. (Chao Jinwen)
