Recently, Publicity Department of Hunan Provincial Party Committee, Education Commission and Education Department of Hunan Province jointly announced that Nie Zhi, teacher of School ofMarxism Studies, HUBT, was awarded the title of first "Most Beautiful Ideological and Political Teacher" in Hunan colleges and universities.

Most beautiful ideological and political teacher with four identities
Nie Zhi, Vice Party Secretary and Vice Dean of School ofMarxism Studies, has been staying true to his original aspiration over the past years, wholeheartedly devoting himself to teaching and education, and making progress in both teaching and scientific research. He has successively won the honorary titles of "Expert in Teaching Ideological and Political Theory Course in National Colleges and Universities" and "National Young Talent in Publicizing Ideology and Culture".
Professional prize-winner in the eyes of colleagues
The essence of education is that one soul awakens another soul, and the method of awakening is undoubtedly very important. Nie Zhi delved into the teaching methods and strategies, and devoted himself to teaching as an art.
Excellence in work is possible only with diligence. Nie Zhi participated in a series of high-level teaching competitions in recent years and has won 1 national-level second prize and 4 provincial first prizes, namely, the first prize in "Situation & Policy" Teaching Competition among Hunan Colleges and Universities in 2016, first prize in the 2nd Hunan Micro-lesson Competition (College & University Group) in 2017, title of "Expert in Teaching Ideological and Political Theory Course in National Colleges and Universities" in the 2017 College & University Ideological and Political Course Teaching Competition organized by MOE, grand prize in the Micro-publicity Competition concerning Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era among Hunan Colleges and Universities in 2018, first prize in Hunan Famous Teacher Class in 2019, and President's Teaching Award of HUTB.
From 2016 to 2017, Nie Zhi gave demonstration lectures in the competence training class for HUTB young teachers consecutively. He was rated as the "Influential Person of the Year 2016 in Teaching Ideological and Political Theory Course" and "Nominated Influential Person of the Year 2017 in Teaching Ideological and Political Theory Course". He was invited by the Education Department of Hunan Province as the main lecturer of the training class for backbone teachers who teach "Situation & Policy" course, and has given four lectures since 2017. In 2020, he was invited to teach in Zhijiang as the training expert for backbone teachers of ideological and political theory course in Hunan Province.
Good teacher in students' eyes
With his careful, meticulous and intimate devotion to teaching, Nie Zhi won the sincere love of his students. In 2016, he was selected as "My Favorite Teacher" in HUTB. In 2017, he was awarded the "Gratitude to Outstanding Teachers" fund.
Nie Zhi teaches the students what to think and strives to be the "spokesman" of Marxism. In class, he explains profound theories in simple terms, interprets big things through small ones, and tries to arm the students with the Party's innovative theories; after class, he pays attention to strengthen the students' faith. For example, as the book, Reliable Marx was found popular yet connotative in 2019, he decided to give it to each of 41 students in Wisdom Management Class 1801. He always spares no effort to care for and help students who meet difficulties.
Nie Zhi impresses students with novel lectures. He follows three principles in teaching. First, tell "meaningful" stories in an "interesting" way. If the textbook is a fish, the teacher should think about how to cook steamed fish head with chopped pepper, or braise thefishinbrownsauce, or fry fish slices with sweet and sour sauce so that students can eat and love them. To realize this purpose, his teaching plans are updated by 50% although he teaches the same two courses every year. Second, let the students "open mouth" and strengthen the interaction between teachers and students. As a teacher would become a "lonely reader" if he/she simply repeats what the book says, Nie Zhi actively carried out discussions in class and passed the "microphone" to students. Third, one who intends to send positive energy should be full of positive energy himself. When the students trust the teacher/master, they will follow his way and trust the things that he teaches. So in each class, he tries to show his best face to the students.
Nie Zhi stimulates students thinking with questions. With problem-based learning as the subject, he successively presided over a number of university-level and provincial-level teaching research projects, and wrote the "Chain of Thinking for PBL" for the Introduction course, in which he combined and refined the important and difficult points of the course, hot spots and focuses of society and academia, as well as students' interests and doubts into a series of problems to guide students to think positively and stimulate classroom vitality.
Young genius in the eyes of experts
The ideal academic in his mind must reflect reality and solve problems. In recent years, Nie Zhi has focused on the research on mainstream ideology construction in the Internet field. As a "post-80s", he has achieved outstanding academic achievements among his peers, presided over 2 projects of National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), 1 self-selected project of CPC Publicity Department, 1 humanities and social science project of the Ministry of Education, 2 provincial key research projects and other high-level projects. He has published more than 20 academic papers in journals such as Red Flag Manuscript and Studies in Ideological Education, and published a monograph, Study on the Discourse Power of China's Mainstream Ideology in the We-Media Field, at the People's Publishing House. His think tank reports were published in periodicals such as Seeking Truth (Internal Reference), Guidebook for Decision Making, Hunan Social Science Research, etc., with comments from Comrade Wu Lan, Vice Secretary of Hunan Provincial Party Committee. He was also hired by Guangming Daily and Nanjing University as an "assessment expert for ideological web articles evaluation system".
Nie Zhi was rated as Young Backbone Teacher in Hunan Province in 2015; selected for "HUTB 151 Talent Program" (the third level) in 2016 and "Support Program for Young and Middle-aged Outstanding Talents in Ideological and Political Education in Hunan Province" in the same year, becoming the youngest among 10 young and middle-aged scholars; selected for "HUTB 151 Talent Program" (the second level) and "121 Talent Program of Hunan Province" in 2019; and rated as one of the three "National Young Talent in Publicizing Ideology and Culture" from Hunan colleges and universities in 2020.
Lecturer in the eyes of the public
On the eve of July 1, the public lecture recorded by Nie Zhi in Hunan Provincial Library celebrating CPC centenary, Great Waves Sweeping Away Sand - Different Life of Delegates to the First National Congress of the CPC and Profound Enlightenment, was launched on National Public Cultural Cloud, which received more than 100,000 hits within a month. Only in the first half of this year, he has been invited to givetheoretical lectures to Yuelu District Transport Bureau, Industry and Information Technology Bureau, Science and Technology Bureau, Yanghu Subdistrict and Guanshaling Subdistrict, organized HUTB Party history lesson, Approaching the Revolutionaries in Huxiang, and invited four memorial directors and experts to teach on campus, which was reported on New Hunan, Rednet.cn and the website of Education Department, published on Party History Study and Education Bulletins.
Nie Zhi is an important member of HUTB "Institute for New Ideas, Thoughts and Strategies regarding Governance by the CPC Central Committee" and "Society of Learning Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era". In 2016, the Publicity Group for Publicizing New Development Ideas in Kaihui Town, Changsha City, Bishi Town, Yueyang City and Yaobang Village, Liuyang City as organized by the institute was rated National Key Group for Bringing Culture/Science and Technology/Hygienic Health to the Countryside. In the following years, Nie Zhi led the team to these places to publicize the Party's innovative theories, which were reported by Xinhua News Agency, People.cn, Rednet.cn and other media.
