Recently, Publicity Department of Hunan Provincial Party Committee, Education Commission and Education Department of Hunan Province jointly announced that Dai Ji, Instructor of Center for Mental Health Education, Student Affairs Division, HUBT, was awarded the title of first "Most Beautiful Instructor" in Hunan colleges and universities.

Caretaker of college students' spiritual garden

 

Dai Ji, female, born in January 1976, member of the Communist Party of China, doctor of Applied Psychology, associate professor, director of Center for Mental Health Education, HUTB. Since 2004, she has been engaged in mental health education for 17 years, and has won the honors such as "Young and Middle-aged Backbone Teacher for Ideological and Political Work in Hunan Colleges and Universities", "Teaching Expert in Hunan Colleges and Universities", "Advanced Individual of Mental Health Education in Hunan Colleges and Universities", etc., won the awards such as first prize of "Classroom Teaching Competition among Hunan Colleges and Universities", first prize of the first "Micro-lesson Competition in Hunan Province", first prize of the second "Multimedia Courseware Making Competition for College Students Mental Health Course in Hunan Province", etc., and is in charge of the first-class undergraduate course, Mental Health Education for College Students, in Hunan Province.

 


Persistence - companion in your formative years

 

In the past 17 years, Dai Ji has been holding herself as a good teacher with ideals and convictions, moral sentiments, solid knowledge, and benevolent heart, and striving to be "a mentor in four aspects". She always replied to the QQ, WeChat messages and emails of students that very day, no matter how late it was; for students who came to her after class, she sacrificed her breaks to talk to them; when students asked for advice on how to study psychology, she volunteered to provide information in addition to her guidance.

 

One night, Dai Ji worked overtime and left the office at 9:30 when she saw a group of students walking slowly with a girl. She asked and drove her to the infirmary. It's learned that the student, who had no history of asthma, was out of breath, which seemed to be a psychogenic disease. Out of professional sensitivity, Dai Ji asked her classmates to take care of the girl while contacted her instructor. Later, the student went to the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University as recommended by the infirmary, and was diagnosed with depression. Under the efforts of family and HUTB, she resumed normal study and life soon.

 

Improvement - climber in professional field

 

In the past 17 years, Dai Ji has been sticking to the podium, constantly studying teaching, carrying out scientific research and improving the consultation level, and has become a leader in her field.

She carried out teaching reform in classroom teaching, combined mind cultivation with virtue cultivation, refined the ideological and political concepts in mind cultivation course and shaped students' character with epigram; created the teaching mode of "online knowledge teaching + offline experiential classroom teaching + on-site practice teaching" to improve the teaching effect. Students praised her a "down-to-earth" teacher, who not only has profound psychological skills, but also is full of positive energy. She made the mental health course comprehensible and practical to the students. Her course Mental Health Education for College Students was rated the first-class undergraduate course in Hunan Province, and Psychology in Life has become the most popular optional course in HUTB. She has won a number of provincial teaching awards.

To combine practice and scientific work, Dai Ji, after much pondering, put forward the 16-character mental health formula appropriate to the Chinese culture together with her supervisor, and completed her innovative doctoral thesis themed by "Positive Acceptance and Striving". She has presided over the MOE project, Conversation Skills Training Camp for Instructors, 2 provincial social science fund projects, and more than ten provincial education planning projects and teaching research and reform projects. She has published 7 CSSCI papers and edited the book Psychology in Life - Reading Life and Enjoying Yourself.

 

Innovation - dountless pioneer

 

With pioneering creativity and strong organizational ability, Dai Ji led her team to create a number of influential psychological education brands.

 

She created the brand "conversation skills training camp for instructors". Psychological counseling techniques are applied to daily conversations, focusing on growth guidance and crisis intervention to train instructors' discourse competence. This project was rated Quality Project of Ministry of Education on University Instructors' Work in 2016. So far, 102 training sessions have been carried out in colleges, universities and primary and secondary schools in Hunan Province, with more than 10,000 teachers trained, indirectly radiating to hundreds of thousands of students in more than 60 schools.

 

She created the education brand "four beauty of life". Her team put forward the concept of "Four Beauty of Life" (uniqueness, dream, tenacity and ordinariness of life) that integrates mind cultivation and virtue cultivation. HUBT has carried out the theme activities for 10 consecutive years to guide students to be confident, willing to accept and strive through psychological training, and to work hard and assume responsibility through character building.

 

She created the "4-3-2 model for psychological crisis intervention", that is, to build "four platforms" (activities, publicity, training and information) emphasizing positive prevention; cultivate students' "three consciousness" (self-help, ask for help and help others) to realize positive intervention; and grasp "two links" (early discovery and complete resolution). Both psychological problems and practical problems are solved to ensure the effect of intervention.

 

She set up the "family-school cultivation system" based on her actual work. Cooperative conversations are held to promote parent-child mutual understanding and the joint growth of family members. Family counseling, family education, "parent psychology class", "parent-child voices" and other activities are also launched.

 

Service - social responsibility bearer


Dai Ji is socially responsible. As an expert of Research Association of College Students' Mental Health Education in Hunan Province and entrusted by Education Department of Hunan Province, she participated in the acceptance of qualified psychological counseling rooms and distinctive growth counseling rooms in Hunan Province, consultation on suicide of college students, compilation of provincial textbooks, and investigation of psychological status of college students during the epidemic, etc. As a member of College Students' Psychological Counseling Committee, Chinese Association for Mental Health, she has given more than 50 lectures in Chengdu University of Technology, Hunan University, Jishou University, University of South China and other universities. As an expert of Changsha Campus Psychological Crisis Intervention Working Group, she has given lectures in Hunan Education Society, Changsha Education Bureau, Changjun Middle School and Yali Middle School, etc. totaling more than 40 primary and secondary schools, and assisted in dealing with campus crisis. She acted as the assessment expert in 2019 Mental Health Teacher Competence Competition among Hunan Primary and secondary Schools to instruct the mental health courses in primary and secondary schools. As a member of Family Therapy Group, Psychotherapy and Counselling Committee, Chinese Association for Mental Health, she has given lectures on mental health and family education to more than 30 institutions, such as Hunan Next Generation Working Committee, Hunan Disabled Persons' Federation, Xiangya Hospital and Ecology and Environment Department of Hunan.

 

Dai Ji is warmhearted. She led the team to carry out "anti-bullying" publicity in primary and secondary schools; delivered public lectures in primary and secondary schools like Changjun Bilingual School; served as the head of "Three Education" Office for regionalPartybuilding in HUTB and conducted family activities for community residents. In 2021 summer vacation when the epidemic broke out in Hunan Province, she once again devoted herself to public benefit programs, helped build the psychological assistance platform for college students in Hunan Province during the epidemic to provide professional guidance and hotline supervision as entrusted by the Education Department of Hunan Province.
