HUTB Holds Inaugural Ceremony for School of Sports and Health

On the morning of July 22, the inaugural ceremony for the School of Sports and Health of HUTB was held in Conference Room 206 in Technology Building. Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and Academician, Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin, and Vice President Gan Dejian attended the ceremony. Heads of the CPC Organization Department and the Party Committee Teacher Affairs Department, leadership members of the School of Sports and Health and staff representatives participated in the ceremony, which was presided over by Vice Party Secretary Xiao Xiaoqin.

At the ceremony, Vice President Gan Dejian read the party committee’s document establishing the School of Sports and Health and appointing new leadership members.

Leaders attending the ceremony and new leadership members of the School of Sports and Health unveiled the school. Xiao Xiaoqin, Vice Party Secretary and Dean of the School of Sports and Health (concurrently) and the leadership member representative of the school declared their position respectively.

Chen Xiaohong, Party Secretary and Academician, said that the establishment of the School of Sports and Health is an event of milestone significance, which further perfects the discipline category and strengthens the comprehensive capabilities of the university. She said that the party committee has high expectations for the School of Sports and Health, and that the school is established on the basis of the former Department of Physical Education and Research, has a solid teaching foundation, and will have an important role to play in discipline construction, talent training, scientific research and social service. She put forward three expectations and requirements for the operation of the School of Sports and Health: first, the school should follow the guidance of party building, meet the development needs of health industry, and promote teaching brand with distinctive features; second, the school should focus on discipline construction, facilitate the transition from physical education to integration of physical education and medical discipline, and promote achievements and highlights in discipline construction, degree program construction, scientific research and talent training; third, the school should be aimed at promoting physical and mental health of teachers and students, and play an important role in improving the physical and mental health of teachers and students. She expressed the hope that the School of Sports and Health will rise rapidly, pursue solidarity and harmony, and forge ahead, be of one heart and one mind, create future, and work hard towards new development goals.
