Since 2015, HUTB has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, pooled the strength of teachers, students and staff, internally followed the "Three-upgrade Strategy", externally strived to expand resources, made the scientific decisions, taken on the responsibilities bravely, paid close attention to implementation, thus promoting the comprehensive strength and education level of HUTB to achieve a substantial leap.
Educational effect
The national excellent resource sharing courses, national virtual simulation experiment teaching first-class courses, national offline first-class courses and provincial first-class courses of HUTB have increased significantly. Students have won 725 provincial and above discipline competition awards, including 114 national awards, and the number of awards keeps increasing substantially, including the national "Progressive Innovation Gold Award" won by Hunan Province for the first time.
HUTB has successively won the first batch of top 100 "Model Universities for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform" and other national honorary titles. The cultivation of innovative, entrepreneurial and applied talents has formed a brand effect in the whole province and even the whole country.
The number of master degree awarding points in the HUTB has increased from 3 to 18, and the number of graduate students in the HUTB has increased from 43 to 1248. Relying on a large number of provincial excellent teaching teams for the graduate students, high-quality courses, high-level teaching materials and provincial innovation practice bases to cultivate talents, HUTB has won 125 provincial and above discipline competition awards, including more than 20 provincial and national first prizes. A large number of students generate the high-quality results.
HUTB has won one second prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award, achieving the zero breakthrough in the National Teaching Achievement Award and the National Teaching Competition Award, 19 provincial teaching achievement prizes, including 4 first prizes, and 9 first prizes in provincial teaching competitions.
HUTB has held 109 Lushan Lectures, 140 Lushan Alumni and Entrepreneur Forums and 288 Lushan Senior Forums, and has been introducing the classic art into campus. HUTB has been appraised as an excellent unit of "Top Project" in employment and entrepreneurship of provincial higher education institutions for five consecutive years, and the comprehensive satisfaction rate of graduates' employers has reached more than 90%. During the epidemic period, the employment rate ranked in the forefront of colleges in the province, and was awarded as "Advanced Unit of Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Province".
Talent team
Professor Chen Xiaohong was elected as CAE academician, realizing the historic leap of top talents in the HUTB. There are 36 newly added national and provincial high-level talents in HUTB, including the experts enjoying the special subsidies from the State Council, young talents who publicize the ideology and culture, provincial outstanding experts, provincial outstanding social science experts, provincial new think tank leaders, provincial "100-person plan" talents, support candidates of provincial "Lotus Scholar" award plan, provincial outstanding teachers, etc. 48 high-level talents have been introduced, including 14 academicians.
There are 347 teachers with doctoral degrees in HUTB, representing a net increase of 185% compared with six years ago. Teachers with senior professional and technical positions account for 37.6% of the total number of full-time teachers. More and more outstanding talents at home and abroad are introduced, and the number of key teachers going overseas for training has increased significantly. The number of teachers with doctoral degrees has increased significantly and the internationalization has been improved. Many teachers serve as doctoral tutors in "double first-class" universities. HUTB has taken charged of over 128 national projects, including 4 major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 major consulting project of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 key special project of the National Key Research and Development Plan, 2 major research projects of philosophy and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, and 7 key projects of the National Social Science Foundation.
HUTB has published 569 papers in authoritative journals at home and abroad such as Nature, Management Worldand Chinese Science; more than 60 papers were cited in the first 1% of ESI. HUTB has won 29 awards above the provincial and ministerial levels, including the first, second and third prizes of the Outstanding Achievement Award for Scientific Research in Colleges (Humanities and Social Sciences) of the Ministry of Education, and Fudan Management Outstanding Contribution Award. The number of published monographs, invention patents and software copyrights have increased significantly.
"Theory and Application of Resource and Environment Management in the Digital Economy Era" Basic Science Center of National Natural Science Foundation of China led by Academician Chen Xiaohong has been approved and become the only Basic Science Center of National Natural Science Foundation of China in Hunan.
There are 27 provincial scientific research platforms in HUTB. Laboratories with distinctive characteristics have been built one after another, such as the intelligent environmental monitoring and big data analysis technology, artificial intelligence and robots, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent logistics, blockchain, new retail and Internet of Things. Business Studieswas awarded as National Excellent Journal of Social Sciences in Higher Education Institutions.
HUTB has achieved fruitful results in the fields of ecological civilization and green development, digital economy, intelligent management, trade circulation, combating corruption and upholding integrity, and more than 100 research results have been positively instructed by the Party, national and provincial leaders. In particular, the team led by Academician Chen Xiaohong actively made suggestions and submitted more than 10 high-quality policy suggestions to the central leadership, which were instructed by the leaders of the Party and state, and relevant proposed policy suggestions were adopted by the central ministries and commissions, contributing wisdom and strength to prevention and control of epidemic and the economic and social development. The horizontal funds for HUTB are increasing year by year.
Comprehensive reform
On the basis of regular financial allocation, HUTB has won over 630 million yuan of funds for the education, and the audit promotes the income increase and expenditure reduction of more than 53 million yuan.
More than 40 reform measures introduced by HUTB have been effectively implemented, such as the performance pay and target assessment, establishment management and post appointment, "151" talent project, teacher classification management and assessment, professional title evaluation and internal employment, and attracting the talents by annual salary system. HUTB has been rated as "Model University for Assessment and Evaluation of College Teachers" by the Ministry of Education.
The responsibilities and rights of the schools of HUTB in discipline construction, talent introduction, daily operation management, etc. have been gradually increased. Their support and contribution to the development of HUTB have been continuously improved, and their ability to connect with industries and serve the society has been increasingly strengthened.
The internal control system of HUTB has been continuously strengthened to make every aspect covered by the audit, and the third-party audit business has been normalized. All links of project bidding and implementation are under the strict management. The reform of "water supply, power supply, heat supply and property management" has been completed, and the asset inventory is underway. Real estate management has been improved. The discipline service platform has been strengthened, and activities such as “book delivery” and “book drifting” have been conducted continuously. Procedures have been simplified, work efficiency has been continuously improved, and campus services such as "Education Sunshine" have been greatly improved.
Open education
The number of foreign students in HUTB has increased to 185. Two undergraduate majors of Sino-foreign cooperation were added, and three undergraduate international education programs such as the American Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Finance and Accounting were added, with good education quality. The number of exchange students going abroad for study has greatly increased; the international cooperation programs of teachers are underway, and many teachers go to foreign universities to study for doctoral degrees.
HUTB and Dublin University of Technology jointly established the "Big Data and Technology Innovation Center", which was unveiled by Xu Dazhe, Secretary of Hunan Provincial Committee, and Yue Xiaoyong, Chinese Ambassador to Ireland. 22 cooperation agreements were signed with Italy, Spain, Greece, Australia, New Zealand, Ethiopia and other countries. Overseas academic exchange and business negotiation delegations have visited HUTB more than 60 times.
HUTB has seized the opportunity of deep cooperation with Geely Group and made decision to promote the successful transformation of Beijin College into Xiangtan Polytechnic University, taking the lead in completing the transformation work in our province and building a benchmark for cooperative education; the asset repurchase has been implemented to save nearly 100 million yuan in taxes and fees, forming the "HUTB Model".
HUTB alumni service is being deepened day by day, and the majority of alumni actively contribute to the construction of HUTB and donate money and materials; for celebrating the 70th anniversary, the donation amount reached a new high, nearly 40 million yuan.

Livelihood project
HUTB has invested more than 95 million yuan to increase the salary income of faculty. Compared with 2018, the per capita wage income of the staff with authorized strength is increased by about 23%, while that of the staff without authorized strength is increased by about 30% in 2020.
HUTB has installed the air conditioning and hot water in the dormitory. High-end conferences, lectures, high-quality curriculum resources, books and materials have increased significantly. "Smart Campus" project at the cost of 27.8 million yuan has been completed, with the whole campus covered by free WIFI, and the "One Card" makes study and life more convenient.
HUTB has built a first-class sports center and mental health education center in the province, and established the "comprehensive fitness system" and "home-school co-education and growth system". More than 14.9 million yuan of condolences for the faculty on traditional festivals and welfare materials of "purchasing instead of donating" were distributed, and subsidies for employees in difficulty were accurately implemented. The first standardized "Fengqiao-style" police office in Changsha universities has been successfully established, promoting the public security system of campus to be continuously improved.
Campus environment
HUTB has invested a total of 540 million yuan, and the newly added area of teaching, experiment, practice and training such as the Economic Management Complex has reached 80,000㎡. All office buildings, teaching buildings, laboratory buildings and student dormitories in the South Campus, as well as the teaching buildings and some student dormitories in the North Campus have been upgraded; a large number of internet-famous sites such as Chufeng Academy, Xiande Maker Academy and Cuiya Maker Academy; all campus trunk roads have been asphalted and all indoor and outdoor basketball courts have been plasticized.
HUTB has built Tiger Ridge Park, campus culture wall, central square of North Campus, south gate of Tongzipo Road, central landscape, public toilet, etc., so that the campus can show a new look; Fifteen exquisite gardens, such as Meiyuan and Yiyuan, have been built, and the public environment, such as residential quarters in campus, has been continuously afforested, brightened, beautified and purified.
HUTB has invested more than 40 million yuan. Application systems such as the demonstration classroom of "Smart Classroom", micro-course recording and broadcasting teaching system, asset management system, mobile campus and public data platform have been built one after another, electronic examination room has been upgraded, and more than 30 smart campus sub-projects such as one-card system and smart campus central computer room have been fully completed.
Resident assistance and epidemic prevention and control
HUTB has obtained more than 24 million yuan of funds for various poverty alleviation projects, and completed the procurement task of 6.08 million yuan for poverty alleviation through consumption. "Special Award Fund for Poverty Alleviation by Academicians" has helped 114 needy students. Poverty alleviation through education and industry has been carried out in depth to successfully achieve the poverty alleviation. For three consecutive years, it ranked first in the assessment of poverty alleviation points of provincial units in Xinshao County, and won the "Advanced Unit of Resident Assistance in Villages in the Province". The task force was rated as "Advanced Task Force of Resident Assistance in Villages in the Province", with its members rated as "the most beautiful poverty alleviation figures in the province" and "advanced individuals in poverty alleviation and difficulties tackling in the province". HUTB has contributed to winning the fight against poverty.

Party building, ideological and political work
HUTB insists on putting the political construction of Party in the first place, and is committed to establishing "four consciousnesses", strengthening "four self-confidences", achieving "two maintenance", and firmly grasping the socialist direction of education. HUTB conscientiously implements the major decision-making arrangements of the central and provincial committees, adheres to the president responsibility system under the leadership of the Party Committee, and earnestly holds the special democratic life meetings.

“Standardization of branch setting, normalization of organizational life, refinement of management services, systematization of work system and standardization of position construction” have been completed as required by Party branch of HUTB.
