HUTB Leaders Visit and Investigate the Library and Academies on World Book Day

On the afternoon of April 23, the 26th book day,a team led by President Huang Xin, accompanied by leaders of the Student Affairs Division, the Academic Affairs Division, the Library and the Youth League Committee of HUTB, visited the Library and academies to investigate the construction of study style, in which Chief Leader Nie Guoqing was present.
A symposium was held in the conference room of the Library, at which the leaders of relevant units described the specific measures for and existing problems in the current construction of the study style, as well as the preliminary ideas for promoting the construction of study style in the next step.
At the symposium, President Huang Xin recognized the construction of study style by the relative units. He said, “visiting and investigating the library on the World Book Day is intended to express the holiday greetings and lofty respect to all librarians and also to get to know the reading and learning situation of students and the study style through seminars and on-site visits”.
Also, four requirements were put forward by President Huang Xin in respect of further improvement of the construction of study style: first, the significant value of the construction of study style should be highlighted. A first-class university must have a first-class study style, and only with a first-class study style can there be first-class quality of personnel training, and all units of HUTB should attach great importance to the construction of study style. President Huang Xin pointed that Chen Xiaohong, Secretary and CAE Academician, has repeatedly emphasized to the students that to make learning a habit, you have to read 50 classics every year. We should follow the criterion and requirements proposed by the Party Secretary, and actively guide teachers and students to regard the learning as a kind of belief and the reading as a habit, and to read more books, and read good and useful books. Second, a dense atmosphere for the construction of study style should be created. An excellent study style can edify, infect and inspire people, and give our teachers and students a strong motivation for learning. We should guide teachers and students to read and learn by promoting the classic reading, launching the subject competitions, establishing the learning models, selecting the reading stars, holding the learning salons and other construction activities of study style, and create strong reading and learning atmosphere through the new media, websites, cultural walls and other carriers. At present, we should carry out the special reading activities focusing on the study and education of the Party history to study the Party history, understand the ideas and undertake the missions. Third, a motivation mechanism for the construction of study style should be built. With the learning promoted by the teaching, exams, investigations, competitions and postgraduate entrance examinations, the construction of study style has made good results such as the "more and more sounds of reading of students being heard", "more and more students occupying seats in the study room" and “more and more students staying on campus during the summer vacation”, making the hungry and tirelessly studying become a campus fashion. Fourth, a service platform for the construction of study style should be established. The library should provide a rich variety of paper books and e-books for the teachers and students, make good use of the existing buildings and academies to create a first-class environment for teachers and students, continue to develop such activities as the "Reading Month", "Classic Reading" and "Fan Deng Reading" and provide intelligent services on the basis of such heartwarming services as flash borrowing, book delivery, and reader training, so as to provide teachers and students with more convenient and efficient services for reading and learning.
During the investigation, President Huang Xin and his party also visited the Library, Xiande Maker Academy and Chufeng Academy in Economic Management Complex. They spoke highly of the construction of the Library and Academies and the learning spirit of students, and proposed the relevant requirements for the relevant work.
