HUTB Achieves Good Results in Hunan College Teacher Classroom Teaching Contest of 2020

On October 31, the final of Hunan College Teacher Classroom Teaching Contest of 2020 was held in Hunan Police Academy. Zhan Zhifang from School of Business Administration, and Zhang Yuan from School of Law and Public Administration won the first prize and were awarded the title of “teaching expert of universities and colleges of Hunan Province”, Zhou Ling from School of Foreign Languages and Li Xiaobo from School of Mathematics and Statistics won the second prize. HUTB has been conferred the title of “outstanding organizer award” for consecutive three years.

 


Since the commencement of the Classroom Teaching Contest in June, 2020, HUTB has paid high attention, and Academic Affairs Division, Alumni Office and relevant schools have conducted meticulous organization. After preliminary contests among schools, final selection by HUTB, quarter-finals and final on the provincial level for five months, HUTB has created a dense classroom teaching research and discussion atmosphere, significantly promoting teachers’ return to teaching, passion for teaching, research on teaching, and improvement of teaching level. The teachers sacrificed lots of break time, overcame various difficulties and constantly improved their entries; Academic Affairs Division developed a detailed preparation plan, earnestly organized internal and external experts to build the contest team, and conducted multiple training, guidance and improvement for the teachers’ teaching design, teaching courseware, teaching videos, teaching reflections and on-site lecturing; the candidates exchanged and discussed with,learned from and encouraged each other. All of these have laid a solid foundation for remarkable achievements in the Contest.

 

Hunan College Teacher Classroom Teaching Contest, co-sponsored by Department of Education of Hunan Province and Hunan Committee of China Trade Union of Educators, and undertaken by Hunan Academy of Education Sciences, is designed to further promote the universities and colleges in Hunan Province to attach greater importance to classroom teaching, people cultivation by courses and teachers’ professionalism development, constantly strengthen the central position of teaching, constantly improve teachers’ teaching level, constantly deepen course contents and teaching method reform, guide teachers at universities and colleges to strengthen research on course teaching and people cultivation by courses, and comprehensively improve classroom teaching effects. In the Contest, 52 universities and colleges (including independent colleges) throughout Hunan Province recommended 235 teachers for the quarter-finals in the four categories of liberal arts, science, engineering, and ideological and political courses, and 64 teachers reached the finals after experts’ online review. 4 teachers from HUTB, by virtue of their firm competition awareness, competitive teaching skills and enterprising fighting morale, stood out from fierce competition and achieved remarkable results, demonstrating our teachers’ excellent styles and features.
