HUTB Approved to Have Another 18 Provincial-level First-class Undergraduate Majors

Recently, Department of Education of Hunan Province announced The List of First-class Undergraduate Majors of 2020 in Hunan Province, and HUTB’s 18 majors including Engineering Management was approved as “the first-class undergraduate majors of 2020 in Hunan”.
In July, HUTB, in accordance with the spirit of Notice on Organizing the Application of First-class Undergraduate Majors of 2020 in Hunan Province (X.J.T. [2020] No. 179) made by Department of Education of Hunan Province and Actions Plan of the First-class Undergraduate Education of Hunan University of Technology and Business (2019-2021) (X.X.F [2019] No. 8), organized and conducted recommendation and selection of the first-class undergraduate majors of 2020. After recommendations from schools, internal and external experts’ review, deliberation of the Teaching Guiding Committee, and approval of the Principal Office, HUTB recommended 18 majors including Engineering Management to be assessed as the first-class undergraduate majors of 2020, and all were approved as the provincial-level first-class undergraduate majors, with the approval rate of 100% and ranking No. 1 in Hunan Province.
Since Ministry of Education and Hunan Province started the “two-10,000 plan” for constructing the first-class undergraduate majors, HUTB has 30 majors approved as the first-class undergraduate majors, including 3 national-levels and 27 provincial-level ones, accounting for 57% of the total number of current undergraduate programs available, much higher than the average rate of universities in Hunan Province.
Do firmly after planning. Achievements are subject to HUTB’s high value on and overall planning of the first-class undergraduate education. HUTB always puts undergraduate education in the center of talent cultivation, in the basic position of education and teaching, and in the frontier position of education development, realizes crossover integration in accordance with the educational philosophies of “new engineering courses + new business courses” and “equal emphasis on ‘engineering’ and ‘business’”, transforms and upgrades traditional undergraduate majors and drives them to gain new development by applying new-generation information technologies.
In the next stage, it is necessary to find gap, grasp opportunities, improve weaknesses, and promote upgrading for every majors by combining the national-level first-class undergraduate major construction indicator system, constantly strengthen the construction of major connotation, give full play to the exemplary and leading role of first-class undergraduate majors, and drive the overall improvement of HUTB’s talent cultivation capacity and education teaching quality.
